I have a friend who takes care of golf courses, sports fields, etc. He turned me on to 2 herbicides that absolutely game changers. MSMA and Sencor. Just passing the info on for people who may be looking

I mean MSMA has always been the best herbicide for bermuda. MSMA is an organic form of arsenic. However over time it become inorganic arsenic in your soil which is dangerous.

Yeah I use to use MSMA on my lawn years ago and the EPA put A ban on residential use to research its long term effects. I now see you guys constantly posting about it so I assumed it was allowed again.

Have they proven that it will turn into inorganic arsenic? I know that was the concern at the time.

I hope the don’t find an issue with Celsius. I love that stuff.

Did your golf course friend also tell you this? He should have.

MSMA is not labeled for residential use, the “label is the law”, so its use on residential lawns is a violation of federal law - not the best to post this recommendation on a public message board

We are sure you didn’t know this. Hence the chuckle emoji’s. This is why you don’t see any posters on here with good knowledge of herbicides and their use recommending MSMA use on residential Bermudagrass lawns.

So it’s still banned. Good to know. I’ll stick with Celsius.

That’s how you know it’s good. It’s like the old school bug spray with DDT.

Good ole MSMA. I used to use that stuff to keep my neighbors St. Augustine from invading my beautiful Bermuda lawn. They stopped selling it. Now I have a St. Augustine lawn.

Does it work on Dallisgrass?

I'll make a fake golf course LLC if it does.

Yes. I'm not suggesting you use it but it is labeled for Dallisgrass.

Do you have any suggestions for alternatives to Celsius? I am needing to spray 3 acres and that is going to hurt the pocket book if I end up having to hit it a couple times as I have read some people have to do.

It is currently only labeled for use in golf courses (specific situations like spot treatments and one broadcast over new course), sod farms, rights of way, and cotton fields. Each labeled use has specific situations involving its use. Any stocks still having the older labeling I think can be used per label allowances until depleted.
