FDA approves Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for kids ages 12 to 15

The US FDA on Monday approved the Pfizer vaccine for kids ages 12 to 15 — paving the way for teens to begin getting the shots as early as this week.
A CDC vaccine advisory committee will still need to green light the shot for youths in that age group, with an approval expected Wednesday.
“The FDA’s expansion of the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to include adolescents 12 through 15 years of age is a significant step in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock said in a statement.
“Parents and guardians can rest assured that the agency undertook a rigorous and thorough review of all available data.”
The FDA announced its intention to open up the vaccines to adolescents last week, to allow millions of younger Americans to be inoculated.
On Monday, the agency said in a release that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has met “the regulatory criteria” to be authorities for children as young as 12, saying that doing so “outweighs the known and potential risks.”
The agency said that, although children have milder symptoms than adults, there were about 1.5 million COVID-19 cases among 11- to 17-year-olds between March 1 last year and April 30 this year.
“Having a vaccine authorized for a younger population is a critical step in continuing to lessen the immense public health burden caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Peter Marks, head of the FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research said in a statement.

Authorized not approved is the key phrase
The FDA still hasn’t approved the vaccine itself yet which is....strange

And have my son add a 4th leg? No thank you

We thank the 5,000 African children aged 12 to 15 who died in the name of science.

Sorry I’m not getting my kids vaccinated for something that’s not a threat to their health.
People comparing this to smallpox, polio, etc couldn’t be any more intellectually dishonest

Don't be ridiculous. He won't add a 4th leg.
But so long as he's around, you'll never have spotty 5g coverage.

Considering the minimum amount of time for safety data literally just passed... of course it is not approved yet.
Pretty sure just filed for approval like last week. So expect it within the year. I mean at this point it is basically a guarantee it will be approved.

Not really. The FDA takes eons to approve any new drug.

Don’t do it. My Aunt Sharon’s Facebook post said the shot turns your teenage kids into trannys.

Yeah, my son's school already is having an on-site shot day this Friday for any students that want it.
I told him congratulations, you get the day off of school Friday. In order for the kids to get it, parents must fill out some forms, but I don't trust them enough to have him anywhere near the covid Nazis once they start sticking people.

Just what we need. A vaccine for something that kids either dont get or doesnt affect them, so we should probably just shoot them up with some drug that hasn't even been fully approved yet.
PASS

It’s not strange at all. They can only rush approval so much.

In this case, it about 6 months from authorized use.
Pfizer expects approval in June-ish.

And all the kids with liberal parents will line up for the shot in a virtue signaling extravaganza. Ridiculous.

But everyone tells me it is perfectly safe. Why won't they just approve it already?

Because it is a process. The process must be executed. They can speed it up, but they cannot eliminate it. They can’t just approve it because they feel like it.

This is ridiculous. Kids have no need for 5g.
