this is a huge problem in college basketball. not as bad in football. sorry for the small tangent

when looking at historical teams, people always use nba success and put that success onto the college players/teams. so annoying.

Michael Vick finished third in the Heisman as a freshman QB with the third highest ever efficiency rating and a tray of records

Pretty hard to overrate that

I’m not disagreeing with you much on Vick.

But I feel like overrated is one of those commonly used words people often misuse.

Jimmy Graham, in sort of an arse-backwards way.

Love the topic. It’s a fun brain twister.

Did you ever actually watch Mike Vick in college? He was absolutely electric and a threat to score every time he touched the football

Truth. I hadn’t seen him prior to that title game, and his talent was instantly evident. He looked amazing - unlike anything I’d ever seen.

Know how I know you're <25?

This thread needs to break the MSB record for downvotes.

It’s sad that people are going to let his neat topic idea get overshadowed by his own awful answer.

It actually is a very good topic idea and I thought as much when I opened the thread.

Boy was I in for a surprise.

People seem incredulous now that Woodson won the Heisman over him but it was the logical decision at the time

No it wasn’t

Yeah a lot that talent that were junior and senior starters on that team came there because of Peyton Manning.

Its a neat idea but doesn't have a lot of answers. You have to really stretch.

Even late bloomers, their College career isn't overrated. It is what it is.

Only NFL superstars who were also really good in College could have this Mandela effect.

Brady doesn't fit because most people don't remember his College career and he was mediocre.

But as one poster pointed out, Manning might fit the bill. He's remembered more fondly now in College than he was perceived at the time losing the Heisman to a defensive back.

Frank Gore maybe? Long successful NFL career and is counted as one of the many Miami players to excel in the NFL but he blew out his knee at Miami and shared the backfield his whole time there. He had like 2000 yards for his career

Mine: Michael Vick at Virginia Tech

This is an all time horrible take.

Took a relatively unknown school to the title game and got drafted 1st overall.

This thread deserves 500 downvotes

Here’s one I think: JaMarcus Russel for non LSU fans.

Whenever talking about LSU players with non LSU ppl they’ll sometimes bring up how JaMarcus was such an incredible bust and how crazy that is because of his talent and how good he was in college.

Most LSU fans knew he was vastly overrated when he got drafted...

Yeah, Odell is my answer

He had his moments at LSU but that rookie year in the NFL was shocking to me

Nothing incredible about these numbers. He looked incredible flying all over the field, but he really wasn’t as good in college as people make him out to be.

I wish OP could watch this:

Michael Vick Madness in College

And then get back to us.

There's nothing about his Pro career that made people overrate his College career. Basically the same guy.
