It's also why so many people are surprised at how quick the Amazon Cortana project is going. People aren't used to competence.

The contractor is from Lafayette right?

I thought Carlton Dufrechou was an environmentalist with the Ponchartrian Basin Foundation. How does that qualify him to run a public works department with its own police force?

He got the new job a while ago.

Didn’t they hire Lemoine?

Why not just take them all off? That'll encourage some defensive driving and save money.

he Causeway was where the drunken a-hole in the pickup killed the road worker, correct?

I think it was the big bridge on 310 in Luling. I went to high school with the guy who was killed’s wife. Very sad story.

Good idea, but they need to finish this project and have it accepted so they can take bids to remove the guard rails.

Originally from Avoyelles, then Lafayette...now part of the Bernhard portfolio in Baton Rouge. Lemoine Construction is handling the demo.

They are also building the one in Port Allen. Not sure who is actually building the one at Cortana.

The developer and the general contractor for the Amazon fulfillment center that will be built at Cortana Mall will hold an online question and answer session next week for local companies interested on bid opportunities for the massive project.

The free session will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Representatives from Seefried Industrial Properties, the developer of the 3.5 million square foot building, and The Conlan Company, the general contractor, will be on hand.

They haven't started construction yet. They are just tearing arse and demolishing the old Cortana property rapidly. Demo work is a Louisiana contractor. Although I'm sure those Dawgs from Georgia will assemble the Amazon building just as quickly.

Amazon doesn't waste time with bad GC's. Or even average ones for that matter.

The new rails are considerably more stout than the old ones.

Member when finally after about 20 years the GNOEC admitted the old rails were "decorative" and not functional?

Good times...

From BRBR yesterday:

The application filed by Mackenzie, a Portland, Oregon-based architectural firm, comes as The Lemoine Company completes demolition work on the former mall site.

Demolition is expected to wrap up late this summer, with preliminary construction to begin as soon as June.

Atlanta-based Seefried has not selected a general contractor for the project yet, but Lemoine is likely in the running. It is currently working on another new Amazon fulfillment center in Port Allen.

I posted this photo a few weeks back when this was addressed. You can see where they cracked the cement by: epoxy cure was too hot and expanded, over torqued the nuts on the anchored bolts and they just drilled holes into oblivion into old brittle cement.

Is is across the whole span of the causeway.

But, they're pro Trump, anti abortion, and can't stand crime or trannies. And don't even ask about Dukes or Blue Plate.

Huh. I thought Lemoine was a sub on this for Conlan, out of Georgia. Maybe not.

That company better start selling everything off and transition to a new LLC. It’s not if but when someone will go over no matter how good that rail is. Then the lawyers will be coming after them hard.

As an outsider, I find that generally everyone here accepts this as true. I often wonder why this is allowed to continue and reforms aren't made/demanded?

If people bitched as hard as they do about LSU athletics when it comes to other things, changes would be made. Until then, there is not enough pressure. Louisiana can change, the constituents just have to be the change.

St. George has been a good example of people pissed off enough for something to happen, wether it is successful or not. Need more of that in LA.
