Regardless of what you do it for (food, drinks, activities) it’s the same amount of effort to “do something” at an all-inclusive vs a standard resort. It’s not any easier or harder. Just pre-paid.

Excellence Riviera in Cancun

This place is nice if you want a very laid back and secluded place. We've been quite a few times (7) to what is now Hilton Playa del Carmen. It used to be The Royal, it's adults only so no one under 18. I suggest looking for one of these types of resorts since it will be just you two and I'm sure you don't want a bunch of kids running around. Some others we've stayed at is the Riu las Americas in Cancun, Riu las Antillas in Aruba, all very nice and adults only. They serve premium liquors you just have to ask for it. We are going to the Hideaway Royalton in in Puerto Morelos in July for the first time, it looks very nice. I've heard the Valentin Riviera Maya is great as well. Most will give you the required PCR test at the resort for your re-entry into the US.

It is nice to never have to worry about breaking out your wallet on a vacation though.

You mean physically or metaphorically? I always charge everything to the room and they charge the card on file when I’m done.

I’m not hating on all-inclusive, I generally wonder if I’m missing something that everyone else utilizes. I understand the finances of the situation and being on a budget is easier to accomplish when fees are all includes up front.

But I don’t understand when people say it’s easier or less hassle. Sometimes it can even be more of a hassle bc I’m trying to figure out if something was included in the “all-in” price or is this an extra charge. I have found I have a better time skipping the all-inclusive places.

This. But I don't go on vacation to just sit at my resort 24/7 like apparently a lot of other people do.

Secrets Maroma Beach is a very nice place. Been there a few times. Top shelf alcohol and the food is excellent.

If you want to do Punta Cana, Iberostar Grand Bavaro is one of the best. Also top shelf booze and a quiet setting.

Both are adult only and easy to get too.

I did reports on both of them in the pinned thread.

Going here in July for honeymoon. Have never been to an AI. Any tips since you’ve been several times?

I’m here at Temptations actually now, and there’s a bunch of single people/solo people here . It’s not a bunch of old people. Decent young party crowd .

I got here yesterday so I’m still exploring the resort and all but it’s a fun atmosphere . I like it so far .

The all inclusive deters you from leaving the resort and exploring. If you want to pay everything up front just take a cruise with drink package.

$1,500 a night
Sorry, not sorry, out of what I'm willing to spend. That's $10,500 for a week.

The Valentin Imperial Maya. Mexico. Everything was first class and the food was wonderful. Great beach. Really affordable, too.
