Alabama is like $160 this year. Yes that is an incredible game but jesus christ I've gone every year and it's never been close to that high. Even something like 5 years ago most away games hovered around $100 and many were lower. They've skyrocketed in price recently. I guess I've been going to games for close to a decade now but I remember when I started going in 2012 how even Auburn and Florida tickets were something like $80.

I get that inflation happens and we are in an arms race but it's pricing me out. The atmosphere has degraded year over year at most venues I go to including Tiger Stadium and the prices go up. And not only that, the revenue they get from tickets is a smaller and smaller percentage every year as the TV money increases.

Maybe I'm ranting but christ I'm basically at the point where it almost isn't worth it anymore to pay these ridiculous prices considering the huge hassle attending a college football game is these days. Maybe I'm just getting too old.

I paid $400 a pop for at Bama in 2019 lol. They were great seats and it was so worth it to see that win

Surely that was secondary though? I'm talking about the face value seats from the schools.

No shock to me. I paid $150 for tix to the Texas game through LSU a couple years ago.

maybe atmosphere is degrading because prices are going up + easier to stream games?

Probably a factor, but not the entire story. If you look at any 5-6 year window the past 25 years or so, none of them compare to the increase we’ve seen since 2015.

When you factor in the hotel, meals, gas, etc. you’re basically at a round trip plane ticket to Europe.

Have two hurricanes hit you and see what a sheet of plywood cost.

Anyway
These days prices don’t give you a chance to experience a game with kids with out emptying your bank account.

I am priced out of LSU football. Not that I couldn't choose to afford it, and I still hit a game occasionally, but to go to ONE game is more than an entire season when I was a student. Honestly, I would need to double my income and double my fall weekends available to desire to attend an entire season in person again.

Everything is expensive these days. The only thing not going up fast is wages.

I’m not that old and I’m there with you. I started college in 2003 and remember face value for SEC games being b/t $50-60 most places back then and even less growing up. $160 is what you’d scalp tickets for to big games. That being face now is absurd

I think the number one reason for the price increase is the schools see how much the tickets are going for on the secondary market. They know they can charge more and still get the same amount of people in the stands.

Same as professional sports. $1000 to take a family of 4 to a game along with the trimmings! Too much! It is just going to push the NCAA to start paying athletes! Too much money in the game.

Everything is getting out of control. I would elaborate but don’t want to kill the free zone...

Until demand goes down the prices will keep going up. It will take a few years of people giving up tickets for things to go down, if at all... maybe will never go down.

Colleges are trying to get in on the ticket money the secondary market is making. I fully expect games like LSU-Ala to be $200+ per ticket and games like LSU-McNeese to be $25 per ticket.
