Virginia moving to eliminate all accelerated math courses before 11th grade - for 'equity'

LINK
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is moving to eliminate all accelerated math options prior to 11th grade, effectively keeping higher-achieving students from advancing as they usually would in the school system.
Loudoun County school board member Ian Serotkin posted about the change via Facebook on Tuesday. According to Serotkin, he learned of the change the night prior during a briefing from staff on the Virginia Mathematics Pathway Initiative (VMPI).
Don't be fooled by the 'differentiated instruction' crap, it means nothing. Advanced students have always been left to fend for themselves or 'teach' their lower-performing classmates. Advanced students have not been the focus of any educational plan for years and it appears that VA will continue to ignore the kids who truly are the future of the country.
The Chinese must be astounded at how easily they're winning this undeclared war.

So they’re going get more women and minorities into STEM by letting them suck at math?
Clown. World.

All those DC workers who finally were allowed to work in Maryland (DC) but live in Virginia saw to this.

learning is no longer relevant in liberal utopia
everything from cradle to grave will be stolen from the productive in our society to be provided for you from big brother government

Most smart kids don't go to public schools anyway.

Va. Tech, UVA, and all the others fixing to make bank on remedial math courses. This state really sucks since Dems got control of both houses and the governor's mansion.

If they want real "equity" they will have to dig a lot deeper than that. Maybe start in 3rd grade.

Wow, so no 8th/7th grade algebra etc? That’s terrible. No calculus in HS at all?

If you are a crying minority, how does it feel that the rest of the world is being "dumbed" down to make you feel better. Its not like smart kids being dumbed down is going to make you any smarter
Pathetic

Too few black kids in Algebra II = Get rid of Algebra II
Too few black kids in Trig = Get rid of Trig
Too few black kids in Calculus = Get rid of Calculus
All hail our new equitable overlords.

This is like addressing the disparity in per capita homicide rates by haphazardly killing white people until it's even.

Yeah, I’m sure China is doing this with their kids as well. They will own our arse within a generation.

Spelling in elementary school beyond 2nd grade is racist, and has been for at least 30 years.

Just tell them that Africans used math to build the great pyramids.
This isn't that hard.

Insane. Apparently a school’s purpose is to bring “equality” by keeping people dumb, rather than educating them to the beat of their abilities.
It hard to believe this is real.

So instead of trying to help black kids learn, they’d rather make everyone else less learned. Great fricking plan

In a Heinlein sci-fi novel, Friday, The US has broken into several independent countries. In the Republic of California it was discovered that those with college degrees made more money than those without college degrees.
Solution:
The government awarded all adults a college degree.
Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
