Remember when the news was lecturing us about our students not being as smart as Chinese or Japanese students in STEM. Ahhhhhh, those were the days!

They're also getting rid of "Advanced Diplomas". And everyone knows why.

Loudoun County And Fairfax are pretty well off places and a big plus in attracting people are good public schools.

Effectively giving up on public education will change quite a bit

Oh well, they voted for it

I've said this in other threads.

The Chinese are behind all of it.

The political division. The racial division. The virus.

They have our own people doing it for them sometimes knowingly.

Pearl harbor was child's play compared to this operation.

Duke Podesta talked about this on Stephan Molineux a couple years ago.

This is insane. Most civilized nations push their weakest to get better, stronger, and smarter.

Only in this budding shithole of a country are we pushing our strongest to get worse, weaker, and dumber.

All to spare the feelings of a few who have been completely let down by their parents and shite school systems.

This also means the dumb kids will be grouped into one math class with the smart kids thus slowing the pace to a crawl.

Dumbing it down.

"Equity" is a Communist term.

Good grief lady, a couple things....

1) This story is old and dated.

2) It's just a proposal that was being discussed.

3) It's not even really true, woefully misrepresented: LINK

Don't like that one? Google it, there are many stories, pick an outlet you like. All they're actually doing is updating the cirriculum (which they reexamine every 7 years). Looks like the Fox reports were based on rumors, which is shocking, right? The idea is to include/emphasize more relevant material for the modern world (data analysis, modeling, statistics). Can you imagine schools trying to prepare students for the real world? The horror!

'The Virginia Department of Education emphasizes that individual school districts will be able to create their own accelerated courses, and that there is still plenty of time and opportunity for families to give feedback on what they want to see in the next math pathways initiative. That plan is still a few years away.'

'The initiative allows students to take advanced mathematics classes according to ability and achievement, but it doesn't dictate how and when students should take these courses. That decision will come from students and school divisions based on individual learning needs.'

Here's a pro tip: if the headline sounds dumb, it's probably not telling you the actual story. Do your research. Don't be a sheep.

In the twisted, leftist mind, equal opportunity will result in equity, if it doesn't it can only be because of racism. So forced equity is justified.

You could give a lot of the kids they declare "equity" for 1000 years and they would never sniff calculus.

You frick around in the lower grades and end up unable to do normal operations and you are fricked long-term, meaning no opportunity to build and reach a new level of math.

I've said this before, stifle the gifted and frustrate the rest. And we wonder why Americans academically are not at the top. In my day, our classes were based on educational achievement, i.e., bright, average and those struggling.

Virginia moving to eliminate all accelerated math courses before 11th grade - for 'equity'

One of the most racist things I've seen in a long time.

We have "educators" working to prevent people from obtaining an education. Remember that when they say "we're doing this for your own good".

EDIT: Epic thread bump!

Don't be fooled by the 'differentiated instruction' crap, it means nothing. Advanced students have always been left to fend for themselves or 'teach' their lower-performing classmates. Advanced students have not been the focus of any educational plan for years and it appears that VA will continue to ignore the kids who truly are the future of the country.
