Authorities said the car was pulled over for having an expired registration and after determining the driver had an outstanding warrant

Court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court on charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police in June. In that case, a statement of probable cause said police got a call about a man waving a gun who was later identified as Wright.

Katie Wright said her son called her as he was supposedly getting pulled over for having air fresheners hanging in his rear-view mirror – an offense in Minnesota.

Daunte has had some previous brushes with the law. He was arrested in February on a charge of aggravated robbery but later released from custody.
In February 2020, Daunte was also convicted of a petty misdemeanor for disorderly conduct in connection with an event the prior summer. And in late 2019 he pleaded guilty to a petty misdemeanor for possession and sale of a small amount of marijuana.

Aubrey said Daunte had a 2-year-old son and dropped out of high school two years ago because of a learning disability.

But but his past shouldn't make a difference! All that matters is an unarmed black man was killed by police. AGAIN.

Past history and other facts be damned.

I just learned you can’t hang air freshener from your rear view mirror in Minnesota.

He may not have been a future captain of industry, but the cop fricked up and resulted in his death.

Did his actions help the situation? No, but his death is due to negligence of the cop who grabbed the wrong weapon.

His death is due to him resisting arrest

Yes he was executed for existing arrest, you're a fricking idiot. It was an accident precipitated by him being a thug POS retarded MF. Just like 99% of everyone one of these stories

This has got to be the dumbest thing I have seen... He resisted and reentered his car, that raises your chances of getting shot exponentially...

This.

I don't know why people keep repeating the line that he was resisting arrest as if it's some kind of gotcha. Was he an idiot for resisting arrest? Yeah. Does that excuse the officer for killing him by mistake? No.

The cop fricked up and it resulted in his death. How do you not get that.

If she grabbed her taser, he would have been zapped, subdued, and arrested and we would never know his name.

Yeah, what the frick is that about?

The cop fricked up, no doubt. She should face whatever punishment is appropriate for that mistake.

But Dante (I refuse to spell it the other way) fricked up too. Comply with the cops and live to tell your 3 babymommas about it. Resist and become a name on the rear window of your mommas whip written in some shitty font.

Well I’d make a crack about his intelligence but he just made his momma $30 mill. Maybe $40.

Who is excusing anything? However, if he had not resisted and reentered his vehicle, then he would be living and breathing today...

The 'air freshener' narrative???

But really, if this is an actual crime then it is a great example of an over-policed nanny state.

All of this was due to systemic racism and isn't his fault. It's whitey's fault he got in trouble in the first place.

Why do we still consider the options of stupid people?
