He may not have been a future captain of industry, but the cop fricked up and resulted in his death.
Did his actions help the situation? No, but his death is due to negligence of the cop who grabbed the wrong weapon.
Society is more outraged over a mistake verses a lifetime of poor choices.
I'd still rather live in a community of people like the police officer in question rather than a community full of Daunte Wrights

And that all circles back to “why tf would you ever wanna be a cop?”

Let me ask you a question: do you want a cop who can't tell the difference between a Glock and a taser on the streets, policing your neighborhood?
Do you want a guy like duante free in your neighborhood
because he refuses to be brought in by police?

Would you feel the same way if this were your family member?
Or do you only feel this way because of what we now know about the victim?
Are you kidding me? If a family member had a history like this guy and played the stupid game like this guy, then I would lay the blame squarely on that family member...

This is where we disagree.
Was it the impetus for the whole situation? Undeniably, but he is dead because of the cop's negligence.
If she had grabbed the taser, he would likely be alive today.

Which would be a bad thing for society.

My career field requires me to be able to affectively and competently handle a weapon. I do have some experience in high pressure situations as well, though admittedly none involving trying to apprehend a suspect. Bottom line: I've held both a taser and a gun and am smart enough to know the difference between the two.
Then you don't know and are making a judgement on a situation that you have no experience in...

For a board who claims to be pro life, some of you sure are quite caviler about the lives of other people.

I never said the cop should walk but you don't care about significant parts of the situation and want to put everything on the cop... The guy went back into his vehicle where he could very well have retrieved a weapon... You are discounting that as well...
I am discounting that because of what happened next. She pulled a weapon that she thought was a taser without checking before pointing it at the guy's torso, shouting "Taser! Taser! Taser!" and pulling the trigger. She thought she had a taser in her hand and had no intention of applying deadly force. This is negligence on a horrific scale. At the very least, she should not be a cop.

This is where the disconnect is and where we disagree. Resisting arrest by itself does not warrant deadly force, nor was deadly force meant to be used in this particular case. His actions led to his death, to be sure, but the gun used to kill him was not fired by itself. It required a triggerman and that triggerman was a cop who should be arrested and charged with manslaughter.
It was an accident. People die all the time from accidents, and they are handled civilly not criminally, especially when the "victim's" own actions put him in a volatile position to begin with. Calling for the cop to go to prison over an unintentional mistake like this is stupid.

I know I am smart enough to know what I have in my hand before I use it. If I am not, I shouldn't be out on the streets playing cop.

Listen dumb shite. It is his fault he put that officer in the position to make the mistake.
Here is the question. We’re the cops wring for pulling him over? We’re they wrong to arrest him?
I can give you a real life scenario. Had a Plt manning a check point. Had vehicle approach at high rate of speed. Signs clearly posted saying not to do that. Had interpreter tell the vehicle to stop via loudspeaker. At 100m I ordered both 240Gs and a M2 to open up. Car shredded and 3 passengers turned into a pink mist before the car caught fire. IT WAS THIER frickING FAULT and I didn’t loose a minute of sleep! This is basically the exact same situation. Unfortunate but true! This piece of shits direct actions lead to the situation where the cop made a decision she didn’t want to do! Was it wring yes but stop excusing the idiot!

There are varying degrees of accident.
This is a pretty egregious one.

He knew this was against the law but still did it anyways while having a warrant? No one should feel bad that we lost a moron and career criminal.

You're right. And some of those deaths by accidents are brought about by criminal negligence - such as driving while under the influence of alcohol. A drunk person never means to kill someone while they're behind the wheel of a car, but it happens all the time. And they go to jail for it.

Yes it is. And they both assumed responsibility for it and both will pay a price. Pretty sad situation all the way around
