No shite as it was for me but she’s 9 and when she read draw she was thinking pictures because she’s a kid

And in 10 seconds she could learn that draw has more than one meaning and also learn how to complete the assignment.

My 7 year old knows what draw conclusions means BTW.

As a father of three kids I can assure you not all learning is done at school by the teacher. Parents need to set up and help as well. That is what you did for your niece. She know understands that in the english language some words have different meaning, but can be spelled the same way.

Maybe he would have preferred the teacher to use words such as 'infer' or 'deduce' instead.

After reading this, I’d like to offer you a position tutoring my grandchildren. Your grasp of the English language is amazing.

Is that the language that you are teaching your children? SMDH

When I explained that they just wanted her to write about what she read she was like oh ok, and knocked it out easy. Does anyone else get irrationally angry at these schools and their stupid wording in textbooks (online articles now) and tests they give?

Yes. But this:

what conclusions can you draw from the text?”

Is not

trying to confuse her.

She’s fricking 9!

So she should be able to understand that question.

The teacher is using academic language that the child will see on her state test.

Lol. My two year olds both understood the definition of the word consequences and could pronounce it. Any nine year old should know a ten cent word like conclusions.

It's been a rough day for Arkansas on the board, between this and the Scientology.

Don’t blame the teacher because your granddaughter will one day be working on a pole.
