So what did you eat for lunch during your journey. Or did you starve yourself in anticipation of this evening's showdown?
Posted on 3/30/21 at 4:47 pm to ragincajun03
I starved myself. And to make matters worse, I made it home and my wife’s not here, she went to the store. She had all day to do that shite.

You sure she can trusted to properly administer the blind experiment?
Posted on 3/30/21 at 5:05 pm to ragincajun03
Yeah, I think so.
I think I’m gonna do a countdown from worst to first. I believe there are 11 different samples.
I also got 2 links of smoked from Mr. T’s that I’m saving for later tonight.

Wouldn't those things be good smoked?

Are you taking your clothes off to eat the boudin?

Ok, just finished the tastings. 3 stood out above the others, and 1 stood out as the clear worst. I’m going to try samples of the top 3 again, just to verify.

T Boys!! My game day boudin
Posted on 3/30/21 at 7:24 pm to 81Tiger
Ok, folks. Here we go. There were 11 samples. I’ll count down from #11 to #1.
11. T-Boys. Livery and gritty, and did not suit my palate at all. I’ll add that this is the 3rd time I’ve done one of these blind tastings, and T-Boys has finished last every single time.
10. Eunice Poultry. Overly salty and just not very good.
9. Eunice Superette. Mild and flavorless.
8. Charlie’s. Very meh, nondescript link.
7. Kartchner’s. Not bad, but it just didn’t stand out.
6. Rhea’s. Salty, spicy. Decent link.
5. Billy’s. Solid link; peppery. Lacked oomph.
4. Mr. T’s. This was the winner the last time I did one of these contests, and was my wife’s choice as best. Good link, but not quite as good as the Top 3.
3. Benoit’s Country Meat Block. A surprisingly tasty link. I’ll have to compare them against Ronnie’s to see which is the best in the BR area.
2. Janise’s. Great, rich, meaty link. Top-notch.
1. Bourque’s. Perfectly seasoned, moist, succulent. Clear winner. The best of the bunch!
Congratulations to Bourque’s in Port Barre, this year’s champion!

I’m glad you gave them their fair shake! Did you get the smoked link or the regular?

This is my favorite. Good amount of green onion in there.

Since I still have quite a bit left, I plan on doing another blind test tomorrow, just to see how the results compare.

When comparing other BR area links I would add Bergeron’s in Port Allen off of 415. They do a nice job and the smoked boudin is great.
