Are any of these coaches realistic possibilities for LSU baseball?

Dan McDonnell, Louisville
Tim Tadlock, Texas Tech
Erik Bakich, Michigan
Mike Bianco, Mississippi
Would you be interested in any of them?

The first one is realistic IMO and i would be happy with him. Not sure any of the others would come or would be a good fit

The guy from Michigan wouldn't be bad but Mainieri isn't going anywhere mid season. I get the frustration but he's not going to be canned mid season.

Hands off our coach. That’s all.

Tadlock and McDonnell are both excellent.
Matt Riser should be on that list. .

Why?

Bianco doesn’t belong on that list.
Really, neither does Bakich. Michigan had one good year. He’s made a regional two other years and that’s it.
Tadlock and McDonnell are the only two worth looking at IMO, and Tadlock is at his alma mater, so it would be a tough pull.

Bakich isn’t one I would want. Everyone seems to be on him because of his run in the CWS. Everything else is so-so. And hell no to Riser

Are you a clown? You want Bianco?
He’s been in Oxford 20+ years with only 1 Omaha appearance.

With the current shite show of an athletics dept at LSU right now?
Hell no
If PM decides to retire I’d expect something like Matt Riser with a 6 year 12 million dollar contract, that’s how much faith I have in Woodward to get this right

Dan McDonnell, Louisville
McDonnell used State to get a contract extension at Louisville through 2028 that pays $1.5 million, plus postseason, academic and other bonuses.

McDonnell absolutely. Bianco would be another great hire. His roots at LSU and playing under Bertman for one, and the fact that he’s had success at Ole Miss is encouraging. Imagine what he could do with the talent at LSU. Not interested in the other 2.

This is the guy. He was Lemonis’s head coach yet they are the same age. LSU would have to throw a lot of $ to get him away from Louisville. He built that program fromt he ground up and is consistently in the CWS. He is young and can recruit. His teams are super disciplined. This is the guy 100% IMO

The guy who coached across from us last night is better than 2 on your list
Bianco should be like 10th choice

Over CPM? Absolutely. Either would improve our program compared to the current head coach.

I don't think Woodward would fire Mainieri with three more years left on his contract. (We can thank Alleva for that. He was afraid PM would jump to Texas in 2016).
But remember, Mainieri has had two surgeries on his neck, and he has reportedly confided in some that the neck bothers him enough that he might retire before the contract is up in 2024.
Either way, a full buyout of his contract would not be enormous compared to football. We have enough major league baseball alumni. Can't Woodward go to them to raise the buyout cash for the betterment of LSU?
Dan McDonnell's name would be mentioned in any coaching search. He has a rolling contract with Louisville that I think now extends to 2028. That's right, 2028.
There are people who will tell you that Virginia's Brian O'Connor would be Mainieri's personal choice to succeed him. Of course, he would. O'Connor was Mainieri's assistant at Notre Dame for nine years.
But what has O'Connor, who is 49, done in the past few seasons? We don't need a Mainieri clone, especially one that he presumes is his successor.
Jim Schlossnagle of TCU would be a great choice. He's 50 and has been at TCU since '04. He's been to five College World Series, though he's never won it.
Schlossnagle is said to be ready to move on. His kids are college age and he has to be tired of trying to stretch 11.7 scholarships at a private school.
Another name is Dan Heefner, who is in his 14th year at Dallas Baptist University. A small private school but they play D1 baseball and he's taken them to nine NCAA regionals. Not sure if he would be a good personality fit. I mean, he's no Eddie Stanky. Just a good Baptist boy, and of course we already have a soft-spoken, gentlemanly coach. We need someone who has some fire.
I'd go after Schlossnagle, who used to be an assistant at Tulane, knows the area and has a proven record of getting his teams to Omaha.
The question lingers, though: with all that's going on, does Woodward even care about baseball and dealing with a coach who still has three years left on his contract?

Believe me, that guy would leave Michigan for the right price.

No. Patience grasshopper. Admittedly too many strike outs. But, once they get more comfortable with what pitchers are trying to do to them, the talent will start to kick in. There is still a lot of confidence with these, REALLY YOUNG, hitters.
