Cheap outdoor propane burner / stand from Lowe’s only lasted 1.5 seasons. Please offer up recommendations for replacements.
Also, any ideas on how to extend the life of the new burner would be appreciated as well.

Just got a stainless double jet bayou classic. Boiled first couple batches this weekend in a 100 quart pot. Think the wind affected my ability to get to rolling boil like I wanted. But the regulator also looks cheaper so I'll probably play with that.

If you are in BR - go get a rocket pot at Goodwood Hardware

I have the double jet burner with the wind shroud for a 120qt pot. Have been using it for at least 3 years with no issues. I might change out the hose and regulator this week to be safe. I’m doing my first boil of the year Saturday.

Just get you a stainless jet burner stand. I bought mine from Shenandoah hardware on Jones Creek over 10 years ago and it still works great. I make sure the everything is in working order before the first time I use it for the season and that’s it. I used it yesterday with no problems

Is there a problem with the stand/burner or is a crappy regulator and hose that comes with them? Unless you want to drop the extra cash order a quality regulator and hose.

Same here. I got the double jet and the 60 psi regulator. Boils water in no time.
I’m a firm believer in the “buy once, cry once” philosophy when it comes to buying quality vs crap. In the long run, buying quality saves you money.

If you don't want to break the bank, get the Bayou Classics double burner that has the heavy duty welded frame. We have had it several years and it still stands up. Don't get the lightweight double unit; it is flimsy.

The BC model I am recommending is #SP40. Can get for $80-85.

I pulled the jet tips off and rust was clogging those up. It appears the inside of the burner “neck” that connects to the regulator hose rusted and is causing a lack of gas flow.

You can’t get die grinder in there and knock rust off and clean jets?

Bayou Classics works for me. I’m waterfront (salt water) and it’s not protected unless you call under the eave protected. It’s probably 8-9 years old and doesn’t look like it needs to be replaced any time soon.

I have one that myself and an old fabricator made in 1977.
We used 5/8 round bar and RTJ gaskets.(ring gaskets). He had perfected the burner and It roars like a hot air balloon.
Had it blasted and zinc rich coated. It’s lasted 44 years and will probably go another 144 years.

I've got an extra one of these
in South Baton Rouge if anyone is interested.
40 PSI regulator really makes a difference on jet boilers.

Agreed. Bayou classic STAINLESS double jet. Spend the extra on the stainless. Buy a 30psi regulator and swap it out right away. 100/120QT pot with this burner is all you need.

I'm putting natural gas at my new house, anxious to see how it compares

You likely have something that's an easy fix. I don't think you can kill one outside in 1.5 yrs unless it's made of paper.

If I am not mistaken; natural gas burns at a much lower temperature than propane. It may take a while to get the bugs going!

Just wanted to bump and recommend these guys. They made a burner for me a month or so ago and it is rock solid. Turnaround time was about a week and it's heavy duty but not a pain to move around. Much better than the ones you can get at Academy.
