Look Mike saw it all before from Rat. He was just trying to help.
I can see it all now, this is gonna be just like last summer. You fell in love with that girl at the Fotomat, you bought forty dollars worth of frickin' film, and you never even talked to her. You don't even own a camera.
Plus hell he had to eat 34 pairs of Blue Oyster Cult Tickets. He was that close to working at 7-11. Cut him some slack.

I think this is just another thing that Rat screwed up. Damone told him what to play and he mess it up just like leaving his wallet at home.

if I remember right, they shot the car scene and were adding music in post production. Led Zep refused to allow them to use LZ IV, the producers quietly convinced Robert Plant to let them use Kashmir and Rat is an even bigger frickup forever

If anything, it shows the radically divergent experiences of similar individuals based on gender.
Damone and Linda probably would have been a nice match, but he's scratching out a living at the 7/11 and she's gonna coast through life as a trophy wife.
