According to PM

ETA. Talking about Morgan on OTB. Said he’s a great oppo hitter and you can’t teach that.

Edit: The gif represents the original statement. Perhaps Paul didn’t mean it in the way it was represented in the first post.

As a volunteer HIGH SCHOOL coach, I promise you can. These kids don't have access to a dedicated hitting coach 24/7, and we manage to teach them to go oppo.

PM really is a good coach, but this is horse shite.

Edit: Posted below clarifies the context. Makes much more sense then.

Context matters a little lol. It was in regards to Morgan and he said you can’t teach someone to be a great opposite field hitter and Morgan is a great opposite field hitter.

I retract my previous statement. This makes much more sense!

You can't teach some posters to read a WHOLE statement and do a little bit of analytical reasoning.

You can’t teach players to be great opposite field hitters. This explains why they can’t help Milazzo at least.

Ell is a good poster, and a knowledgeable baseball guy, but like most people, he is not in search for the truth; rather he is a marshaller of data to support his favored narrative.

It is extremely difficult to teach a hitter to hit oppo with authority. Sure, you can teach them to let it get deeper, slap it the other way, "think oppo gap", etc. But it is pretty darn difficult to teach body movements that create deep barrel depth and a path that allows for consistent power to that side of the field.

Some guys can do it, but it's pretty uncommon. And for the most part, those guys could roll out of bed doing it before any instructor really got them to that point.

PM is right. If it was an easy teach, every hitter could do it.

Lefties tend to have a more natural inside-out swing which is conducive to hitting to the left side. Obviously Morgan has a great approach.
