DHS begs for volunteers to rush to border, admits migrant surge is 'overwhelming'

In an email to department employees, Mr. Mayorkas said he was copying an idea the Trump administration used in 2019, during the last surge.
The email is another indication that despite public pronouncements to the contrary, the Biden administration believes it is facing a crisis at the border.

I don't understand why there is a crisis. Biden and the left want open borders. If that is true, why would they worry about how many people are flooding in? Don't they want everyone to come in for the free healthcare and unemployment checks?

No, it’s intentional.
They told the Central American governments to start sending people north.
And they told border control to stop defending the border - they’re under orders to release detainees are rapidly as possible.

I still favor the plan I saw posted here a few weeks ago by another poster: load all the migrants into busses and ship them directly to DC.
