Wow! LA State Police must be bored breaking up a man's weekly poker night.

WBRZ
Bad things happen when you name and tag your house as any cool name on your social media. Ole "Uber Wayne" tagged his man room as The 5th Street Social Club, and now all his buddies are in jail for a $20 buy-in on their Monday poker game.
Edit: Didn't know the 5th Street Social Club was an actual business establishment. Still bullshite.
Side discussion, what would your alias be on your arrest record?

BATON ROUGE - An extensive investigation conducted by the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division resulted in numerous arrests after an illegal gambling den was discovered in Baton Rouge.
On Feb 22., Troopers arrested Wayne Neyland, 43, aka “Uber Wayne” of Denham Springs and 38-year-old Jack Hardesty of Prairieville on charges of gambling. In addition, Troopers also arrested 41-year-old John Brewster of Denham Springs, 33-year-old Ryan Westmoreland of Denham Springs, and 31-year-old Darren Ortego of Denham Springs on Feb. 23 for gambling.
The investigation revealed the aforementioned individuals were the principal operators of an illegal gambling den that was based at the 5th Street Social Club in Baton Rouge.
All five individuals were booked into the East Baton Rouge Jail for violating gambling ordinances.

It only becomes illegal when the House pulls a rake on the pot. Otherwise it is legal.
FWIW, there was a high dollar game run for years out of a house on Highland Road. Edwin Edwards and other high profile people attended. The Sheriff openly told his deputies to stay away.

Casinos dont like competition.
I go to a bar that gets a black jack table going every so often but no one advertises it, and if some non regulars show up it gets shut down quick.

I wonder if the advocate will ask why 100% of gambling arrests are white
Posted on 2/25/21 at 7:55 am to lowhound
Way easier than murders and rapes.

This would only be illegal if they were taking in a rake.

What would happen if a cop stood up and refused to uphold the current law? He would be fired and the people would still be arrested.
The cops aren’t the problem here. The politicians protecting big money casinos with ridiculous laws are the problem.

I honestly didn't know 5 people playing poker was illegal. Wow. If they put even 1/100th of the effort into shutting down the beggars/fake homeless clowns that they did for a poker game, maybe BR wouldn't be as shitty as it is.

I feel safe knowing these hardened criminals aren't on the streets rolling bones and dealing cards.

The gaming division at LSP is literally financed by the casino industry. The fees they pay for licenses go straight to LSP to find this division. At LSP, it’s considered one of the “good boy” divisions. If you are a good boy amd get along, you can get a nice , quiet assignment in gaming. Can you now see why they hammered this little poker room ?
