We have a Peloton, from what I can gather it's far superior to any of the other models out there.

Didn’t the owner of peloton just take the same entry level bike he had been selling and simply rebrand it with a higher price tag to make it seem superior?

That thread is one of the funniest things ever posted on Twitter.

The big question for OP is how many of your wife's friends have a Peloton. If a few of them have one, she's not going to be happy with a knockoff.

Salmon, I know you’re a pretty active dude. You ever use it for a workout?

I've never used a Peloton, but my wife wants one, so I'm sure I'll be getting one soon enough

I have several friends that have one and love it though

Whats the point in putting a Peleton by a window overlooking some sort of magical view if you're staring at a screen the entire time?

Just get a commercial laundry hanging system. It would be money better spent.

Truth. It's advertising so I guess they're just appealing to people's imagery while riding. Some of the Peloton instructors are nice to look at too.

Can they see you? Can you see other Peleton riders in your class?

Correct. Hannah Corbin, Ally Love, Jess King, to name a few.

So people outside can see you in the window and marvel at how wealthy and in shape you are.

My wife wanted a Peloton. I put her bike(that she hasn't ridden in 3 or 4 years) on a $75 indoor trainer stand I have. She was not impressed. "But they have payment plans!!!"

I think the instructors can because there's a camera on the tablet but I'm not honestly sure. I have no idea why the camera is there otherwise.

Buy a gym membership, not a bike.

We've got several kids and she is at home with them. Hard for her to get to the gym, but we do have a YMCA membership through my work which is free. I see her point.

She is the opposite of lazy, she used to be a workout machine, but the kids don't really give her the time to get to the gym, especially with my work hours.

I have no doubt she'll actually use the hell out of the stationary bike, no argument from me there.

There is a camera on the screen so you could video chat with other riders if you wanted to. I never have though. You can interact with other riders though by sending them high fives during a ride. Shows up on your screen that so and so sent you a high five and you can high five them back. Just a way to motivate one another during a ride.

The instructor cannot see you though.

Go ahead and listen to the sheep here and buy the peloton.

But know going in that, essentially, it's the Apple of exercise bikes.

1) It's a cult.
2) In addition to the base cost, be ready for the monthly subscription. That's where they REALLY make their money.
3) There are equal or better bikes for less cost.

I used to ride 2k - 4k per year and if you want my real advice, get a less expensive trainer (Schwinn/echelon/bowflex) and a REAL road bike for equal or less than what you'd pay for a peloton and the subscription. There is a significantly different level of fitness you get from a REAL road bike vs a trainer. It's called wind resistance and it's a killer.

If they sell it at Costco or Sam's it's probably made by peleton.
