Paying cash at the grocery or department store checkout

Where does the OT rate this on the trashy scale?
Last night at Publix, this lady took no fewer than 5 minutes at the only open register to try to count $32 worth of dollar bills and coins, while people behind her (including myself) were visibly frustrated. The cashier was rolling her eyes as this lady was fishing around in her purse for coins. When the cashier told her she was short by $3.30 or so, she paid the balance on her credit card. I don't understand why she couldn't have paid the initial balance on the card in the first place.
I don't think a cashless society is feasible, but I would definitely be in favor of going cashless at large stores.

It's definitely not as trashy as complaining about people using cash as a legal tender.

Not as trashy as judging how other people pay for their groceries.

I pay cash for everything . Im young and married and budget very tightly. Sometimes if I dont have enough "food" money left for the week I will give them my remaining cash and use the rest on my card.
I know it sounds crazy but it helps me budget and keep my wife within the budget as well. If there's no cash left, we dont have the money for it. Clean and simple.

Maybe she didn't have the balance to pay the rest.

Mark 12:41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

If she waited til the last item was bagged to pull out a checkbook, then sure. But I’m not mad about cash.

You know the country is full of sissies when they start complaining about paying with cash.

Older guy I know who is absolutely loaded only carries cash. I asked him about it one day and he told me he usually goes to the bank early Monday morning or late Friday and gets a few thousand out for the week. Or a few hundred if he has some left over. Calls it his "walking around money". If he doesn't have enough cash for whatever he wants, he will write a check.
He is one of those tye of dudes that you would never know was rich by his clothes. He usually has on camo cargo shorts and plain t shirt. Or jeans and a Hanes sweatshirt. Complimented by flip flops or white New Balance dad shoes. But he's got more money than I'll ever see.

Millions of Americans don’t have bank accounts or credit cards. If someone is paying for something, who gives a damn how they’re paying for it (not including the coin people)?
That’s a big problem with this country, too many people have tons of credit card debt.

Cash doesn't bother me nearly as much as people who still write checks!!! Especially when they wait until the cashier is finished ringing them up before evening opening the purse to fish around for the checkbook and a pen. Now that drives me absolutely batshit crazy!!!!

Paying cash is the way.
It is amazing how many people love to have their purchases included in data mining.

I put it 0 on the trashy scale.
I find myself paying with cash more and more as I do not like all the data being collected by these card processors these days.
I know that is against the flow of society and I have even been in coffee shops in New York that will not accept cash but I think cash is a better way to budget and spend.
