Diguilio's roasted garlic/cambozola with italian bread, and Texas De Brazil's pao de queijo.

Microcosm of why BR sucks as a restaurant and “fooddie” town. Very few appreciate ,let alone enjoy, something as simple and good as true home made bread/rolls/ baguettes.

The answer is Lacours in BR. It was outstanding and a solid comparison to anything in Europe.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to check it out. How are the burgers and chicken fried steak? I took the kids to this one place where the chicken fried steak was so big it didn't even fit on a platter. How big is the chicken fried steak there?

I worked in Homewood in 2019 and hit up J&N after work many nights. The mashed potatoes and baked beans were like crack. The meats were good too. I had no idea they had cheese muffins. Damn!

The food was blander than Cracker Barrel. Our whole group were very disappointed with the restaurant.

I must investigate.

Jalapeño cheesebread at Goode Company BBQ is the only thing that popped into my head, but I'm not really a bread connoisseur.

Fresh, hot bread is my kryptonite
Caught a show on Pluto TV last week where 1 of the producers and a couple of the popular tv chefs were reviewing an old Julia Child show from her PBS days.

Turns out JC said she always aged her hand made bread 2 days before eating it and that the assumption of fresh, hot from the oven, bread was best is a falsehood. She admitted the smells did make it tempting. JC would even refrigerate her herbed breads before consuming or serving to bring out the full flavor.

Pretty interesting show with the producer pointing out that Julia had 5 copies of each stage of the cooking process in case of errors, flaws, etc.. There were no retakes, it was filmed live.

I'm still scratching my head as to why people fancy these.

That bread at J Alexander's is pretty good.

And no one mentioned Brennan’s.

That bread was like a GD donut.

Lambert's food is terrible, but the rolls kick arse... That's all I have on that place. I'll never go back for the rolls though..

Commander's Palace. Make a sandwich out of a piece of hot crusty French bread with a piece of their garlic bread in the middle. Had some on Lundi Gras.
