Looking for ideas on how everyone hauls their rod and reels in the bed of their trucks. I figured you Baws are some crafty fellas and come up with efficient ways that better suits your needs than allowing the ice chest to shift and damage your lines.

What y’all got?

You should clarify what bed you’re talking about in the title before this thread goes NSFW.

Make sure you put them way up at the top so that everyone can see you are such a serious fishermen that you need rod holders in your truck, even when you don't have rods in there. Prolly oughta keep your swordfish rigs in there just in case though

This. Make sure you advertise your expensive gear to everyone in sight!

Personally I never got it because there is nothing good about beating a fiberglass rod up at 70 mph for two hours

I don’t. I put them in the cab. My rods all fit one way or the other- albeit sometimes it’s tight. Otherwise, they’re in the boat.

But if someone wants a ride on a fishing trip, they’ll have to Put up with the inconvenience.

Rod runner

I have this and love it. Put rods in there for trip to launch. Easy to put them all in boat and they never get tangled like before.

I broke a rod once hauling it in the bed. An igloo bounced while driving on that lovely Belle Case Hwy and broke it

Won’t do that again.

I used to surf fish Elmers Island a good bit and zip-tied a couple plastic rod holders to a ratcheting cargo bar to hold rods up and away from other junk in bed of truck. Worked well, cheap.

I have one made of PVC that I used on my F150. Holds 6 maybe. Not sure if it fits my current truck.

Just make pvc tubes to put your rods in and put your reels on when at the landing. I do this on long trips and costs are cheap (cost me $25 for 2” pvc) and I’m able to haul 6 rods). If short trips, throw them in the truck.

Be sure not to block that 2 foot Yeti window sticker.

I drilled out a couple cheap rod holders to fit 1/2" carriage bolts and fastened them against my bed rail.

Worked great, rods were easily accessible and out of the way of things riding in the bed.

I have a Bazooka that I use if I'm travelling with a bunch of rods w/o the reels mounted. It can handle 7' rods.

I also made an open top pine box from 1"x 8" pine that can hold 4-5 rods with reels.

Both fit diagonally in my Silverado CC short bed.

I use Portarod

I dont like rods in the cab of my truck and dont have rod lockers in my boat, so, I prefer a stable setup like this.

Get a real working 6.5' bed and lay even a 7'6" down corner to corner. Anything catching wind in a baby bed is trashy and not good for the rods.
