Google Maps now displaying a pop-up to "search for Black owned businesses"

Wow, what an amazingly healthy culture we're developing - allowing users to search for and support businesses based on the skin color of the owner.
This does nothing but foster racial animus in both directions - those who want to avoid black owned businesses, and those who want to support them. It further conditions people to view nearly every element of their daily lives through a racial lens.
This kind of feature would have been a laughable proposition just 5 years ago, yet here we are.

Those are businesses I won’t be visiting.

Dems have circled all the way back to segregation and are being fully supported by big tech. Clown world.

Do they have that function for white businesses?

Am I the only one who gives zero fricks of the owner’s skin color when I am looking for the best and most affordable product/service?

It’s really weird living through a bizarro civil rights era in reverse

the most ironic and funniest part about this new trend. They spent decades fighting to end segregation only to come full circle and campaign for it again

I'd never felt compelled before to support a business based upon race. I value things like good products, good service and friendly employees, regardless of color. I have a feeling this feature will backfire and cause people to destroy a black-owned business and it'll go viral that angry Trump voters did it, reigniting the whole "white supremacists are everywhere!" lie.

It’s only gonna hurt them in my opinion.

Not to sound offensive but easier way would just to put high crime indicators.

They hate you. Your grandchildren will be a despised minority in the country your ancestors built. Is it becoming clear now?

I can see how this can have unintended consequences. Will be useful for some to avoid any potentially dangerous areas.

Is the race of every business owner publicly declared somewhere?
Posted on 2/15/21 at 10:29 pm to Cs
Can we have one for white owned businesses?

I have literally never walked into a store and wondered, "Hmmm, what's the skin color of the owner?"
It's all about the products offered, customer service, design/location/cleanliness of the store, etc.
But now Google is encouraging people to seek out businesses not based on any of the aforementioned qualities, but by the skin color of the owner. It's just so backwards.
