Clashing of the two air masses and the associated upper level winds.

I’m completely throwing darts at a board with that so maybe one of the more knowledgeable posters can fact check me on that and let me know if that’s correct.

I realize that dumbass. Do you look at the seven day forecast and see it change like it has this time?

The seven day forecast will change again soon IF the EURO keeps showing the Arctic and ice making it down to us again. The forecast is going to weigh the EURO more heavily as it usually does. That’s why the forecast removed the cold and ice when the EURO started showing warmer temps. If the EURO starts running two or more rounds showing the arctic and ice then expect the forecast to reintroduce that little by little.

Don’t call someone a dumbass when you don’t know half ofwhat you’re talking about.

That's what I was thinking, but I still don't quite get what physically causes pressure to lower.

I shouldn't have called you a dumbass. I like your posts and I have been watching this thread since it began. I'm just baffled how the "forecast" has changed, not slightly, but drastically in the past week. Sorry.

Because we aren't dealing with "forecasts". These are models. Granted, there have been a couple dumbass meteorologists that called for Snowmageddon 10 days out when they knew good and well that they shouldn't have.

This thread has not aged well and by this weekend coming it will really be stale.

Should not be allowed to start these type of threads predicting weather 10-12 days in advance.

Some incredible cold. Also, that’s not going to be rain on Sunday but freezing rain probably.

Why? watching the prognosticators walk back there prognostications and explain why they’re not really wrong- although they’re dead arse wrong- is entertaining.

When this cold dives down, it's going to have a storm spin up on the edge

What causes this to happen?

Jet stream is running on 2 tracks. One across the Rockies and Midwest, and a more southern track across northern Mexico. Impulses are flaring up over the Gulf of Alaska and moving along the tracks. Pacific NW may catch hell from this as well. Checked our forecast links and saw Tulsa with a forecasted high of +4F on the 15th. Still too far out to commit to this.

I only asked for wind chill below 34° in Dallas but I’ll take -4° if I must.
