Monday morning looks to be even colder. The GFS has us at 14 a few hours before our low temp. Stay tuned!

Edit: 12 is our low that morning according to this run.

That ice bullshite can keep on moving down towards Tennessee (sorry guys).

I can handle snow. I can handle cold arse temps. But frick ice and that's all they've talked about this week. Potential for "significant ice".

I'm pretty sure I have PTSD from this:

Is this even worth trying to save my citrus or just let the shite freeze and die?

I'm going to start framing up a couple of my citrus trees this week before the cold to drape visqueen on. Will run christmas lights when its go time.

Depends on the citrus. If you're talking satsuma then you should be fine.

My lemon would be a goner in that run (which I wouldn't care too much about). The Ruby Red grapefruit would need a lot of cover and some lights on it.

I still have it from the ice storm that hit Alabama in 1982. Dad got stuck at work, little brother was barely a year old, power out for a week, my older brother and I having to slip and slide across the back patio to get firewood. Dad finally just walked 5 miles home on icy roads and avoiding downed power lines.

Yeah we got hit in 2009 (that's when the picture is from). The trees were already weak from September 08 when Hurricane Ike rolled up here and you could lay in bed at night and hear the trees cracking and falling up and down the street from the weight of the ice.

We were without power for almost two weeks in freezing temps. Most miserable I've ever been.

Yep, left that part out. Mom had us all in the den by the fireplace since the power was out, and the limbs and trees snapping all night was all you heard. The strong smell of pine the next morning is still etched in my memory as well.

That's when you shut the water off at the shutoff and just open every fixture and hope for the best.

If you don't blow the pipes out with compressed air you're risking busted pipes. My neighbor can confirm that's a possibility after a $1,8000 repair bill.
