I am excited, I gave O some shite, but I think getting new fresh blood with new ideas is the way to go. Bringing in retreads with tape on em for 20 years is not the way to succeed. You have to make offenses uncomfortable.

exactly, wonder why that is? there is no gray area here, the answer is as clear as black and white

It has to be exhaustingly miserable to always view life through a racism lens.

tRant is salty about the hire because Ryan Clark will like it for obvious reasons.

I like the hire even if Ryan Clark is a bitch.

Well he meets the diversity requirement that Bo Pelini did not meet last year so hopefully our players will play hard for him.

If you believe this, then you must believe that our players are racist. . .

Daronte Jones' coaching style is different from Bo Pelini. He'll have the locker room, and he'll lead with charisma

I'd like to think our DC brings more to the table than that.

Tell me about the tangibles he brings to the table from a schematic standpoint.

The Rant is salty because we are embarrassingly down to our 4th option, who was on no one's radar, after having failed spectacularly on the first 2 attempts to hire someone.

People vastly underestimate how important it is for a coach to have a personal and relatable relationship with his players in college football. If its a father figure or even big brother role alot of these guys have never had a positive male role model in there lifes... It may not matter as much to all but it does mean alot to some...Sacrificing and busting your butt for a guy you personally dont interact with or have a relationship with gets you Bo Pelinie effort and results...

Thats a very good question Why is he a good hire.I ask why
isn`t he a good hire. There is no answer. We will find out in
about 7 months. I hope the hate for coach O calms down
before the start of next season and everyone get behind the
players representing LSU whether or not we approve of Os
coaching hires or not. They read these boards and for them
it must be a real eye opener for them about our fans.

Jones top job is keep Louisiana boys going to Bama. Jones accomplished that task and calls a good defense. LSU will be in major bowl game every year. Zimmer was high on Jones that speaks volumes.

He'll put our athletes where they need to be

There's is zero evidence for this. He may have presence, command respect from the athletes, fit in with the locker room, relate to recruits, and work well with the coaches. We can assume he is excellent at all of that. But we have zero evidence that he is competent at calling and strategizing Xs and O's at this level, because he's never, ever done it.

Daronte Jones (duh-RAHN-tay) enters his fifth season in the NFL after most recently spending two years with the Cincinnati Bengals as the secondary/cornerbacks coach from 2018-19. In 2018 Jones aided in the development of rookie CBs Davontae Harris and Darius Phillips, both late-round draft picks who saw game action throughout the season due to injuries to Cincinnati's defense.

Jones previously worked two seasons with the Miami Dolphins as an assistant defensive backs coach. In 2017, Jones helped S Reshad Jones to a team-high 122 tackles and a berth in the Pro Bowl. In his first season as a professional coach in 2016, Jones helped coach a Dolphins defense that recorded 16 interceptions, third-most in the NFL. Miami also ranked fourth in the league in third-down defense, allowing opponents to convert on only 36.15 percent of attempts.

Prior to the NFL, Jones served as defensive backs coach at the University of Wisconsin in 2015, as the Badgers led the nation with just seven passing touchdowns allowed. Wisconsin's passing defense ranked second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally, allowing 173.2 pass yards per game. From 2012-14, Jones served as the secondary coach at the University of Hawaii, adding the title of assistant head coach in 2014. Jones helped improve Hawaii's passing defense by 62.1 yards per game, as the Rainbow Warriors went from 85th nationally in 2011 to the 11th-best passing defense in 2012.

The Capital Heights, Maryland, native also had earlier coaching stops with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League in 2011 as the defensive backs coach and with UCLA in 2010 as the cornerbacks coach. Jones was named assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Bowie State from 2005-09. His defense finished in the top three nationally in three of his five seasons.

Prior to his time at Bowie State, Jones served as defensive coordinator at two Louisiana high schools — Jeanerette (2004) and Franklin (2003). He also spent the 2002 season coaching safeties at Nicholls State after beginning his coaching career in 2001 as a graduate assistant at Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. Jones played four seasons as a defensive back at Morgan State before earning his bachelor's degree in 2001.

Yes, I agree...Some want to point to race as being what is being referd to as being relatable and I dont see that being as big of a factor as some would suggest. I think its far more age and actually being a likable guy. NFL offenses are way more complex than college offense's, if you can scheme and coach a position in the NFL you can scheme and coach against less complicated college offenses...I think he'll do great until proven otherwise...

Apparently he had the #1 defense in division 2. Hope he doesn't screw with Corey Raymond.
