All I see is a guy in need of a chance. Aranda trusted him, so I trust him.

I don't love the Peetz hire, but I find DC far more important to have current successful experience with.

That's just how I feel.

Did you think the Pelini hire was risky?

is it? Why?

I thought O committed to hiring the best coordinators in the country.

Do Peetz and Jones qualify? I say no way. Now, they both may turn out to be great, but we're taking a huge leap with both of them.

Pretty sad that a football powerhouse like LSU, sitting in the middle of fertile recruiting ground, can't get proven coordinators, so we're forced to take a flyer on both.

It's a lot easier to say that after a successful season. We need to take what we can get at this point and have some faith in some guys.

Daronte Jones' coaching style is different from Bo Pelini. He'll have the locker room, and he'll lead with charisma. Kudos to coach O for thoughtfully picking a DC. I'm excited about next season.

give me some tape of this guy

exactly, wonder why that is? there is no gray area here, the answer is as clear as black and white

There were a lot of people on this board, myself included, who questioned that hire also. Can we just wait and see before calling either one a good hire. IMO they were both lazy hires.

Why is he a great hire?

What is his "style"?

What scheme does he run?

What is his base front?

What coverages does he use?

Is he a blitz heavy coach?

Is he multiple with his formations?

Is he a man or zone guy?

The truth is you have no idea what he is going to be as a DC because he doesn't have much to show on paper and he is taking a big step up in position in the top conference in college football. To call him a great hire is nothing but optimism. Nothing wrong with being optimistic, but don't try to inflate the situation.

Then explain why the overwhelming majority on this board wanted Freeman hired?
