BERLIN, Jan 11 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel has reservations about the way President Donald Trump’s Twitter account was suspended, her spokesman said, adding that legislators, not private companies, should decide on any necessary curbs to free expression.
quote:
The intervention by Steffen Seibert, her chief spokesman, reflects concern in Berlin and much of Europe at the power giant social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook have to shape public discourse.
quote:
Merkel’s relations with Trump have been frosty during the his four years in office, making her apparent decision to side with him in his objections to being removed from the platform all the more striking.
quote:
“The right to freedom of opinion is of fundamental importance,” Seibert told reporters at a regular government news conference in Berlin on Monday.
“Given that, the chancellor considers it problematic that the president’s accounts have been permanently suspended.”

Germans are wary of infringements of free speech, partly thanks to memories of the Communists and of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis, totalitarian regimes that ruled on German soil during the 20th century, both of which used violence and censorship to seize and hold power. Gee, even the Germans are saying it. Where are the libs to come here and say that the comparison to Nazi Germany is absurd?

Full discosure I haven't even read it yet. But I don't care what she says. I know in reality she loves it. Lip service is all this is.

Merkel is an idiot, but Germans know Nazi tactics when they see them.

Europe does a lot wrong but they do go after Big Tech and their GDPR laws are what the US need as well.

Miss me with that shite.
Twitter can suspend anyone they want if they're consistent with their TOS. But they're fricking not, instead they aligned themselves to one political idealogy and systematic in stifling conservative voices. That's the big problem here, and to make it worse they're not the only corporation doing it.

She doesn't like the fact that the government has competition when it comes to suppression of speech

So fricking European.
“Legislators should decide necessary curbs to free expression”
frick that sentiment in its entirety until the end of time.

I guess she finally woke up.
That cuunt started talking the other day about how horrible the events of the 6th were. She’s lucky her own people didn’t throw her in an oven over trying to replace them with refugees.

Germans didn't say that or anything like it... Only the Writer made reference to it...
Just like saying Louis XVI was cruel doesn't make me French.
