I would have paid full price again just to be able to play original release ME1 on my PS4.

I have probably played ME1 the most out of all of them.

These games never even needed to be remastered.

Base game is damn near perfect.

The PC port of ME1 didn't play very nicely with modern PC hardware. It behaved fine on my old laptop, but I was pretty sure my gaming rig would have had fits, which had kind of put me off of replaying it recently.

ETA: And gaming in 21:9 is the fricking tits.

The only reason I wish I had kept my 360 was to be able to play Fallout 3 and New Vegas without a TON of issues, because it's a headache when trying to play those games on a machine with Windows 10.

You make sacrifices when you get married, but you never truly know the cost.

The frick? I'm married and still have my childhood N64 and PS2

Though it's a shame I no longer have my NES, Genesis, or SNES...

I don’t have my Sega or N64 anymore, but I do have my old 360, Wii, and WiiU.

I think I still have my old original Xbox at my parents’ house too.

I’ll be keeping my consoles now.

So many games get lost through time.

In the early-ish days of gaming, bring things forward was tough. The storage media was clunky and proprietary and the resolutions were such that trying to play them on modern displays tended to be... unpleasant.

Now that we are starting to strongly flirt with points of extremely diminished returns on resolution and with the rise of (nearly) all-digital distribution, I see no reason to lose games going forward. I would love to see some movement from the feds (lol) towards creating a kind of "orphan media" carveout in copyright law that would allow games that have been functionally abandoned by their rights holder to be modified/released by someone else.

Does anyone know what the requirements are for the endings?

I actually did more this go around than the first time I played yet somehow all the endings weren't open for me.

I played through all three games, played all the DLC, kept everyone alive in ME2, did almost all the major side content in ME3, and got all the fleets to join the battle at the end of ME3. I had around 5.3K Total Military Strength, and the green ending was locked.

I picked the red ending (which I consider to be truly canon anyway), and apparently the 5.3K score wasn't even enough to unlock the secret ending

That would have been plenty in the old game, but I don’t know about LE. Was the readiness bar full?

I read one article that said you need around 7800. That's the only thing I can find that's somewhat concrete.

I haven’t made it to ME3 yet in LE, so I just don’t know the raw numbers after they fricked around with it re: removing multiplayer. But I know in OG you had to fill up the bar. I have to think they kept that, whatever the number might be.

It has been 8 years since I played through the games for the first time, so I don't remember.

See that's where I think they messed up. Filling up the bar was always a weak point with ME3. While even the extended edition endings are still almost completely copy/paste, it feels like it's more difficult now to unlock them all.

It doesn't even seem possible to do that without having played the other two games first -- at least not assuming you want an enjoyable experience.

Sometimes, especially with a collection like this, you might want to play through the second game by itself (which is my favorite), the third game, or maybe the second and then the third game. After all, when you watch Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, you don't always start with The Hobbit or the Phantom Menace. Sometimes you watch The Two Towers or Return of the Jedi and appreciate it as a self contained experience.

I genuinely hope this paves the way for other "modern classic" remasters like KOTOR on the older side and Fallout: New Vegas on the newer end. I know people consider remasters cash grabs, but I genuinely don't care. I don't want pieces of gaming history to die.

Speaking of remasters. I picked up a bunch of Assassin's Creed bundles a while back. Odyssey came with a version of AC:3 Remastered, and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.

dont think I've ever used Kaiden in a mission (through 3 playthroughs of ME1). I'll have him in the party sometimes when I am running through the Citadel doing small side quests, but that's it. At least Ashley's expertise in all weapons has a use in some missions assuming your Shepard isnt also a soldier (no point in having two soldiers on a mission).

I accidently used Ashley on the end game mission of ME1 last night. I forgot that I couldn't swap party members out once Ilos starts. Oops. But she was solid with her sniper rifle through the entire end game until the final boss battle.

I've always found that combat is the strongest killing type in ME1 with Biotics and tech basically providing CC and/or support, but Biotics & tech rule in 2 & 3 because of the enhancements. So.. i make Shep a pure biotic, use Garrus for some tech and combat, and Ashley to bring the combat high.

Some parts of the game that are Geth heavy I bring Tali instead of Garrus, because she owns em.

I never use Kaiden either.

And you can do all of those things… after you have one ME1 playthrough. Because yeah, damned near impossible to get if you didn’t play through ME1

I am loving ME2 on Hardcore. Way more challenging than ME1, but it hasnt been frustrating. When I die, its because I stood out from cover for too long or didnt notice an enemy flanking me in the middle of a fight.

Enemy armor is giving me fits though. I cant seem to get through it fast enough. That would be my only gripe - there are a lot of armored enemies at the end of the main missions that I dont recall ever being this difficult to get through. I am wary of using any biotics in missions now because I assume I will run up against armor that will make biotics somewhat useless until the armor is gone. But once that happens, everything becomes easy to kill regardless of who is in my party. So every main mission I find myself bringing a squad that can get through armor the quickest.

In my previous ME2 playthroughs years ago, I had never used Zaeed. With my Shepard being a Vanguard this run through, having him & Garrus' sniper rifles in my party have been clutch so far.

Any biotic with Warp can put serious dents in armor. I'm playing as a biotic, and Miranda and I make short work of armor. Plenty of different ways to skin that cat, though

Just finished ridding the universe of the evil Geth on Rannoch, ME3. Emptied the clip on the lying Geth VI.

Current bang stats on my Renegade/gigolo Shepard run.

ME1 Liara and Sha’ira

ME2 Liara,Jack,Kelly & Tali.

ME3 Kelly,Allers, & Ash in the cross hairs.

I genuinely envy people who can do blank canvas roleplay. I just can't do it. Makes me feel like shite

My version of roleplay is putting myself in the circumstances of the character. Because of the seriousness of the decision for an Asari to pair bond, I just can't bring myself to cheat on Liara in ME2. So on a future playthrough, I think I'm just going to skip romance in ME1 (because I really just don't like either Ash or Kaiden in the pants way) and go into ME2 with a blank slate.

Yeah, it's just one of the playthroughs I run. True Evil Renegade was tough for me. Where you screw the Krogan on the cure and kill Mordin,Wrex,Samara, etc.

Liara is available in the ME2 Shadow Broker DLC after completed.

I’m aware, but she technically doesn’t count as a LI in ME2.

You were jealous that I scored a black widow first week of release. Little did we know that loot boxes and multiplayer were the beginning of the end.
