Anecdotally I’ve seen two cars in the last month that have Hawaii license plates in Baton Rouge.

They will not hesitate to break a window and clean out a rental car in broad daylight, especially when you got away from the tourist areas.
Not sure if this is still a thing, but airport rental cars all had a large sticker on the underside of the trunk lid advising not to leave anything in the car at anytime. Not the small standard type found in most rentals, these things were huge.

They're just tired of their islands being covered with jackasses from the west coast. Can't say I blame them. Doesn't seem to be about covid. As long as they don't ask for federal aid to offset the loss of tourism income then I don't care
