Will Covid-19/Civil Unrest Finally Finish NOLA?

Completely serious. We hear talks about how bad Covid-19 and the Civil Unrest over the summer is going to hurt cities but it's mostly referencing major cities like NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, Seattle and Portland. But what about New Orleans?
I mean lets be honest, NOLA is a great place in terms of bars, restaurants, live entertainment, events and sports. Those aspects have been used for far too long to hide just how dysfunctional NOLA is as a city. Without stuff like Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Saints, great food and great music NOLA is a third world type city.
Covid-19 and the Civil Unrest have taken the good aspects away (via Latoya the Destroya) from NOLA and is exposing just how terrible and hopeless the city is.
A ton of restaurants, bars and music venues in the city are probably going to go under. Due to that you will probably have a ton of people who worked in the hospitality sector leave to find work elsewhere. That will continue the already established erosion of the tax base. Wealthy individuals/corporations will buy those vacant properties for pennies on the dollar and start to hollow out the city. You might finally see restaurants like McDonalds, Taco Bell, Five Guys, Subway and Chipotle in the FQ/Marigny/Bywater areas. You'll still have the crime of NOLA, just without any of the soul.
Never mind with telecommunting and remote work people for the first time can really decide where they want to live and not just base where they live off their work.
So why are people going to stay? If you're a current resident of NOLA, why are you staying? Do you plan to stay or are you planning to leave at some point?

Latoya will finish it regardless of those things

No, the RESIDENTS of New Orleans will finish New Orleans. Give them a little more time and they’ll make it happen.

Telawork might help NOLA, IMO.
DA DESTROYA is the biggest threat.
Without jazz fest etc nola is fricked.
It's all on Georgia Senate.
If Dems carry nola gets lifeline.
If not, the city will go bankrupt and it'll be a bloodbath.

Nola will always have a thriving legal scene.
Half of the posters here bill time and post at the same time.

What civil unrest are you thinking went on in Nola? It was pretty tame compared to a lot of places.
I do worry a lot about the future of Nola. The combo of Covid and count Destroya might be too much to overcome. Nothing of significance will take place in the city until next fall and that's bad. Very bad.
Despite all the shite posting about Nola, the city before Covid was better than it had been in 35 years and tourism and real estate was booming.
I don't know what to think anymore.

Covid, probably.
Civil unrest? Not from what I have seen. The most significant civil unrest I have seen south of Kentucky was in Atlanta. Most people down here could give a shite.

One day COVID’s gonna be over and when it is, New Orleans will still be New Orleans

The most annoying part is that the restaurant owners who support civil unrest and lockdowns seems to be the ones still doing the best due to their already existing popularity.

I have nothing to add to this conversation other than one question.
How in the hell is Portland any more major than New Orleans?
As for New Orleans, love the place or hate the place, you can craft a decent argument that population for population or pound for pound if you will, NO is one of the most culturally distinctive cities in the Western Hemisphere.
Portland...?

I’m not going back to Nola unless I have to....
ie a funeral, school event for my child.
I am over that place.

Covid restrictions destroying businesses? Sure.
Civil unrest? I'm trying to think of any examples in NOLA?

Will Covid be looked as Katrina 2.0 for Nola? Obviously not as physically destructive but fiscally? Might get flamed for this. Regardless Thousands of small businesses are getting wiped just when the city was getting close to pre katrina levels. Leadership worst its ever been and thats saying alot.

By summer time we will have over half our population vaccinated, and we will be vaccinating the rest at a rate of about three million per day. There will be no pandemic this summer. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a dummy or a sensationalist (especially Fauci).

After having lived in 3 other major cities and traveled to pretty much all of them in the US, I can honestly say NOLA finished NOLA. It’s basically Detroit with more potholes and shittier suburbs.
Got a lot of character. I’ll give you that.
