Also averaging 1.5 blocks and 1 steal per game. 22 PER. Oh yeah and 57% from 3pt, just for good measure

This is becoming Asik getting a five year deal level bad

I'm talking drafting Jaxson Hayes with the 8th pick instead of Hachimura/Herro/literally anyone else level bad

I didn't buy into the hype on this guy for a long time now, and sure its a small sample size (I guess), but I'm starting to get the feeling this is going to haunt this franchise for a long time. They royally fricked this one up.

He's not on this team, he chose to leave, let him be.

Mistake? Looking like it. Haunting? No.

Winning Zion
+
AD Trade haul
+
Ingram blowing up
+
Best Case Scenario Jrue trade

gives Griffin a margin for error that probably no GM has ever had.

Anyone that doesn't like watching Hayes or Melli fumble around out there for 15 minutes a game?

And harping about a guy we don't have helps how?

People bringing him up over and over doesn't bring him back.

They screwed up, but it’s not the end of the world if they do it right on the big moves from here out, but were also in the honeymoon phase with Griff. So this will not go over well lol. Already lots of people trying to character assassinate one of the more inspiring success stories in sports in a while as a means to defend Griff.

But I wouldn’t melt too hard, but do think it’s right to be cautious toward our FO decision-making til they prove otherwise, but this one is far less consequential because we aren’t barren in assets unlike the Asik/Evans/Gordon stuff. We’ve had more foresight and stocked enough assets that you could theoretically whiff on a guy like Wood(and a few more Woods) but have the means to still go out and get Beal in a year or two, not have to sit and pray like year of old, hoping old lemon head can stop being a little malcontent, and marble mouth a beta bitch, both spending a chunk of every season rehabing their vaginas, all because we gave up the house to sign a broken player and some misfit parts with no exit strategy and have nothing left in our chamber.

lol yeah I've been reading this board for many many years, I know how it goes. Hell I think a decent portion of the board was defending Dell until the day he was gone

Yeah I agree for the most part

I guess letting Wood go in addition to wasting a pick on Hayes is more how I should structure my complaint. We're going to have to end up wasting a lot of assets to try and find some decent depth at PF/C going forward

It's a shame we had a guy already and let him walk for Jahlil Okafor. But maybe not on the same level as the Asik or Solomon Hill contracts or something like that

Never would have got Zion in the draft with him producing like that here.

They’ve played 3 games on the season and are 1-2. He is a stat filler on mediocre teams to date. He is not the kind of player you want as a major contributor likely on a playoff level team.

It’s not a knock on the guy, because he is talented. He’s just a one-way player that will put up good stats with big minutes but turn around and kill you on the defensive side of the ball.

We had Zion and Wood on the roster at the same time.

I keep reading this one here about Wood and I'm just not buying all that. Yeah he's a liability on defense. But so is every back-up big on our roster right now too. At least he can score points

I'll take a one-way player over a nothing-way player

I would too.
Except, we shouldn't be paying 3/41mil for a guy to be our backup big.

I like Wood, but dude is a me-centric player who is beginning to remind me of hassan whiteside. a guy who can put up a shite ton of stats, but isn't wanted on winning teams.

You were saying we should have never guaranteed him more minutes than Jah freaking Okafor

Well, Melli is getting minutes and giving us nothing on both sides of the floor.

it sucks but he wasn't re-signing with us. he wanted out and we let him go

we would have to bench Zion to get him that sort of production here
