Not E's job. That was Linehan's job. 3rd Down and Red Zone

Both of those indictments are of Linnehan not E. Like it or not, our PGC is in charge of 3rd downs and redzone.

Thats due to a poor run game.

E wasn't that bad in 2018 but he was terrible in 3rd down calling and red zone calling.
Brady helped us get in top 15 and top 5 for both.
This year... we are ranked 102 in 3rd down conversion and 68 in red zone scoring.
That's terrible.
You think having to break in a new QB 3 times in the same year might have had something to do with it. Never knowing who was the WR corp, the RB corp, OL hurt this week, out next week, I don't think we have had 2 games in a row where the OL was the same from start to finish.
I think Coach E is a good coach, I think having a younger PGC like Brady last year or perhaps a Callaway next year with O can work.
In my view, never good to have all young coaches who are great recruiters but short on X's and O's due to lack of experience. It is also true not good to have too many guys > 55 who are locked in to what they believe in and perhaps not able or just need help to adapt and evolve their coaching philosophy. LSU has too many older guys.
Ideal for me is 6 to 7 veterans, I would put Corey and Micky in that group and 3 to 4 young guns.

Experience plays a huge part in the success of a unit. We didn't even have spring football as we should have.
sure it does, but i was replying to the cat trying to compare NFL and College. Because you really can’t.
in college, you can have a Kayshon Boutte behind a Chase, Marshall, Gilbert, etc.
in the NFL if you’re down to your 4th guy at a position you’re in a serious bind.

Joe Burrow in year 1 had about 4 weeks to learn the play book before starting. Not apples to apples

All things being equal, Brady, although an excellent coach, is probably not the next Sean Payton and Coach E is probably a better coach than he is given credit for.
My issue is using how Brady does in the NFL to defend Esminger, it's completely nonsensical. What Brady does in the NFL is meaningless to LSU. Everyone knew he was going into a situation with little talent. LSU still has more talent than half the SEC even with a depleted roster this year.
Also, Sean Payton had playcalling duties stripped from him 2 years into being the Giants OC, so maybe give Brady some time.
ETA: I'm even fine with Esminger staying, it obviously worked with him and Brady the year before. Linehan didn't add anything at all though.

The mob doesn't even know what duties each coach has.
Regardless of who is hired, y'all will still want them fired next season.

Praying E retires! Thankful for his time..

Joe was also given a stupid playbook that didn’t play to any of his strengths. 19 he had a real playbook that he had basically ran his whole life

Why is Bo getting let go? I guess the Lions are cleaning house?
Posted on 12/21/20 at 10:53 am to ConeHawk
Pretty typical in the nfl for a whole staff to be gone once the head coach is fired
Posted on 12/21/20 at 10:56 am to IowaCityTigerFan
The entire offense got better from 18 to 19. From RB to TE to WR.

Yeah I figured. Excited to have Bo.

It's amazing how ppl dont think it's problem we have to have a passing game coordinator to do the job of an OC. truth be told before Brady no one even knew a PGC existed now all of a sudden it's somtehing we need haha. If we had a true OC we wouldn't need a PGC to help on 3rd and Red zone.

Spin-off question for you Vol because you have a good “feel” for the program and players. Why does LSU have more of a problem than others with guys leaving early and is this something Orgeron is looking to change?
Posted on 12/21/20 at 10:59 am to msizzle08
LSU has had PCG before Brady. I think the first was billy G under miles

No one said it’s not odd or an issue but to not acknowledge that it is the current set up just to trash E for the perform those two settings is lazy.
Sure I think the OC should call all the plays and if your criticism of E is that he needs help in those areas then that is fair. To say he needs to be fired cuz we suck on 3rd down and in the red zone is like saying the QB coach should be fired cuz the WRs keep dropping the ball.

So in 2018 when it was just E in the booth and were ranked 51st in 3rd down conversion and 101st in red zone scoring...
