We would have killed for a top 15 passing game a few years ago.
We were also 76th in yards per play and 62nd in points per play. Signs of a very inefficient offense.

It's so frustrating reading this forum most of the time.

So i dont think he should be fired. He has done a lot for the program. I just think him being OC isn't the best option and shouldn't remain
I don't disagree, I just think that pointing out the inefficiency in the two areas that he doesn't call the plays isn't good evidence as to why he should be reassigned.

The fact that any offensive coordinator wouldn’t call the plays in the two most important areas should be cause for concern. No top notch coordinator doesn’t call 3rd down or red zone. That’s where the games are won and lost.

It's impossible to argue with the "either or" crowd who see everything in extremes. You'll find connections everywhere to justify your opinion.
Prior to the season 90% of y'all thought Max and TJ were projects and unusable. shite, Brennan was averaging almost 400 ypg.
But you'll see what you choose to see.

eh, TJ was thought of as the project. Max was considered much further along

Hindsight. Everyone was looking forward to Nuss.

not hindsight, Max was always considered further along than TJ. TJ was the project, Max was more polished and everyone was also looking forward to Nuss.
O made a mistake starting TJ, but I think some of losing the locker room played into that.

We are set at QB for 5 years.

read my previous posts. I acknowledge that and said that his need for help in those areas is a fair criticism but the performance in those areas is not since he was not in charge of them.

Max to Nuss to Howard
fwiw this is also how you manage to become a factory and consistent big time winner

It’s a fact that our defense allowing quick scores have our offense more opportunities to rack up yards. It’s a fact that when given those opportunities, our offense was average to below average when it comes to being successful with those opportunities
Yards per play and points per play are some of the best metrics to measure how good an offense is. We were average to below average in both of those stats.

In my opinion if our OC/PGC are going to be a combination of E and Russ with Russ doing 3rd down and RZ. Why not just make Russ OC and QB coach and E PGC and TE coach? Let E assist Russ and the OC should be in charge of 3rd down and RZ> I like E but 3rd down and RZ are where games are won and should be the head mans top priority.

From last year, going into this season, we lost:
QB1, RB1, WR1, WR2, TE1, OC1, OG1, and our PGC.
Then, game 2, we lost our new QB1, who put up a ton of yards/pts on Missouri and had to roll with true freshmen all year that had zero experience. Then we lost TE1 again and WR1 again for the last few games.
All of that and our conference ranks for offense, which is the only true "fair" way to measure 2020, are as follows:
- PPG: 5th
- YPG: 5th
- YPP: 9th (not good)
- QBR: 7th (with rotating true freshmen)
All these new faces with an abbreviated camp and still a somewhat decent offensive performance makes me not blame Ensminger much. We need to shore up 3rd down and red zone and I think Calloway can do that. Get rid of useless Linehan. Don't get me wrong, if we move Steve to an admin role and get a knockout OC I'd be pumped, but I just don't think that was the issue this year.
Now, Bo Pelini on the other hand had an historically bad unit that was an embarrassment to the program. He took the few very talented and very experienced players he inherited on defense and made them much, much worse.

Sorry for such long delay. Been on the road. You say a pretty good plan. Is it realistic given current situations on campus and around the country.? For example. Hiring lane was a good plan. Just was not possible or realistic

Mob of what? I'm pointing out objective facts you are posting like a 15 yr old girl so emotional.
See my post about E in 2018 leading us to a 51st ranked 3rd down conversion and 102 ranking in red zone. That's terrible

Correction: It’s a start but without an Offensive line to protect them you still fall short

This, I have some old posts I can dig up to state as much. I was called a racist for not kowtowing to TJ (whom I also spoke highly of btw).

Agree. Thanks to this guy:

I don’t think O had a real choice in terms of playing TJ. The locker room had to have been on the verge of becoming toxic at that point.
O deserves a shite ton of criticism, but he did a good job of righting a sinking ship at the end of the season imho.
Posted on 12/21/20 at 12:17 pm to VolTiger13
Why do I feel like Muschamp is going to be the guy O chooses for DC? Wouldn’t mind just stealing Briles and Odom away from Arkansas.
