I'd want my future wife to agree that spending a chunk of money on a completely impractical and useless piece of jewelry that does nothing more than signify you are getting married is pointless. I'd want her to agree that once the marriage reaches 10 years or so she would get a very nice ring or other piece of jewelry.
However, there's not a chance in anybody's Hell that would ever happen.
