Haven't seen this guy mentioned but what about Brad White. Young guy (about 35 years old), 6 years in the NFL with the Colts coaching linebackers, then two coaching LBs at Kentucky (coached Josh Allen) before being promoted to DC last season. Last year in his first year as DC, Kentucky finished 20th nationally in total defense and 14th nationally in scoring defense. They've taken a step back this year but they're getting no help on offense being dead last in that department in the conference, but they've still been pretty good outside their game with Alabama and held Trask to his lowest output all season. They held UGA to 14 points, Missouri to 20 points, State to 2 points, Tennessee to 7, and Auburn to 29. Seems like he's a pretty good young coach. He's only making $650k right now, so it wouldn't be difficult to lure him away.

Brad White

quote:

Brad White enters his third season at Kentucky as the outside linebackers coach and second as the Cats' defensive coordinator. He was elevated to the DC position by head coach Mark Stoops in February of 2019.

White came to Kentucky prior to the 2018 season after spending six years with the Indianapolis Colts. As the outside linebackers coach, White’s NFL experience and defensive end Josh Allen’s talent and work ethic combined for Allen to have one of the greatest seasons in UK history. Allen won National Defensive Player of the Year honors and was a unanimous first-team All-American in 2018 after leading the team with 88 tackles and pacing the SEC in sacks (17.0), tackles for loss (21.5) and forced fumbles (5). An overlooked facet of the UK defense was the development of Boogie Watson at the other OLB. Watson ranked second in sacks behind Allen with 5.0. He also had three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.

In 2019, White’s young defense gave an outstanding account of itself. For the first time since 1979, UK did not allow more than 30 points in any regular season game. UK ranked 13th in the nation in scoring defense and 21st nationally in total defense.

With the Indianapolis Colts, he served as the outside linebackers coach (2015-17), an assistant linebackers coach (2014) and the defensive quality control coach (2012-13).

In 2017, outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard finished the season as the Colts’ leader in sacks with 5.5. He also ranked fourth on the team in tackles (52) and forced two fumbles.

No mention of Muschamp? I guess he would be considered Bo Pellini part II, an old recycled Tiger coordinator on the rebound. He certainly has the credentials to be DC, but I thought Pellini did too.

Reeves and Freeman should get a look

Just read an article about arnett, they’re very good against the run but give up a lot of explosive pass plays

Doesn’t Arnett run a 3-3-5? LSU can’t handle another scheme change. They could barely grasp playing zone.
