FWIW Freeze is a good safe hire for a team with title ix issues:
1. Has been at a bible school and has been clean as a whistle
2. Purchasing hookers stops rape. Freeze was ahead of the game

I would rather Freeze, but I understand how some don't think that would fly. I doubt seriously he would screw up again.
Still have to make the call to Urban, no matter what you think of that. You at least try.
How the hell can all y'all out there think that Freeze won't fly with the Title IX stuff and Urban Meyer will? Or is it another case of looking the other way because you want this great coach? smh
If O goes, next coach must be squeaky clean.

Works for me if Woody wants to pay for a billboard to justify the hire.

I'm less than thrilled he has done nothing about compliance.
The AD is not in charge of compliance. The school administration and the BOS is and Bahnsen and the rest of compliance apparently have friends in those high places

It isn’t just the money in a lawsuit. It’s the shite that comes out during discovery. It’s the fact that you’ve got a loudmouth recruiting guy on the other side with an ax to grind. Oh, and the NCAA is still sniffing around.
No matter what, this can’t be allowed to happen. Do you think a hothead like O would even hesitate to run to the NCAA and bury us? He has to be given a smaller buyout that comes with an airtight NDA attached.

That is not really funny. But it really is funny.

All I can see here is the Bob Mann who was a scrawny student at NLU when I was a freshman 40 years ago.

And here's another factor that isn't being addressed in this discussion;
O's big claim to fame is as a recruiter. Not an X's and O's guy, not a structured process guy, a recruiter.
Does anyone think that's still viable going forward? Just about anyone who could leave, and a few who shouldn't, have left. And apparently more on the way.
He's damaged goods, the one thing he brought to the table is gone.

Oh well. Elections have consequences.

this is true but there are a few things to consider
If Ed sues and tries to burn down LSU he is finished in coaching CFB
A lawsuit will bring depositions and discovery sure, but a settlement is always within reach. The LSU Admin may need to do something NOW, a lawsuit could take year/years to resolve.
Did you read this article?
quote:
LSU's athletic department says it expects to lose $80 million in revenue due to the impact of COVID-19 and is laying off employees and reducing salaries of others.
Football coach Ed Orgeron, men's basketball coach Will Wade and athletic director Scott Woodward are some of the employees under contract who have agreed to reduce their salaries by 5% next year.
Orgeron will see his $6 million salary reduced by $300,000.
"I think 5% is very generous. Some schools are going 10% or higher," Orgeron said Thursday night during a regularly scheduled teleconference. "I was very glad to do it."
Athletic department staff who earn over $80,000 will have their salaries reduced by 5% in 2021. Additionally, bonuses for coaches and staff won't be given for one year.
LSU said in its statement the moves are being made to "streamline productivity, eliminate redundancies and create efficiencies throughout the department."

I will go to my grave believing Freeze was doing the same thing as Rick Pitino and hiring at least some of those hookers for recruits. If he had been busted for that, his career would have been over and for good. Since it happened I have believed that he coped to hiring them for himself immediately and walked away without a fight knowing he would have a chance to recover. And now he’s back in play for a P5 job just a few years later.
If I’m right, then it was a brilliant move on his part.

I’m not an insider but I’d rank candidates in this order.
Urban Meyer
Matt Cambell
Billy Napier
Hugh Freeze
Hell even Joe Brady if he wanted it which is doubtful
Would you throw a feeler out there for Luke Fickell?

If it is up to Scott Woodward, no. At the beginning of this I thought there was no way in hell he would be gone... Now he has zero support and an AD that is looking for an excuse to can him. My gut says yes, but it wouldn’t shock me in the least if he’s fired for cause
If Woody knew today, he'd have a full Tiger Stadium 12 game schedule for 2021 O is gone probably settling $0.60 on the dollar for his remaining contract. Unfortunately, that is impossible to predict today and the politics of a full return are more difficult than prior to the election.

Woodward better get control as this is happening on his watch!

If he's fired, he's finished anyway. He'll never get another head coaching job after LSU. He certainly won't get any TV offers, he would probably get some DL coach offers but there is no way his ego takes that route. LSU is his last stop, in all likelihood. Especially if he is forced out.
