Is it a good pistol?
Short answer is yes. Glocks are generally bomb proof. Very tough, very reliable. The biggest criticism you'll hear is handgrip angle and sights. Not the most comfortable but I shoot very well with them. Super easy of a gun to work on yourself. Doesn't require a ton of lube or cleaning a few hundred rounds.
As far as toughness and reliability, here ya go.
Henderson defense -Pistols ober 100,000+ round count

I can tell you that even though I am not a "Glock guy", it is the most reliable handgun in our inventory and I would trust it with my life. We use Gen1-Gen4 17's on the line and they are the most hassle-free handgun we have. I used my original Gen1 17 when we first opened two and a half years ago and it finally broke about six months ago. When I say broke, Glock's pretty much are the only handgun that suffer a "catastrophic" break. The slide cracks right at the narrow portion at the ejection port. They will continue to fire most of the time but the rounds group at the top right corner of the target. The factory recoil springs are amazing because the just keep going. The Glock gets used probably 10X as much as our Beretta M92's so it's not a fair to say the Beretta is more reliable (see below). We don't use aftermarket slides on our Glocks so I couldn't give you any info those because Glock will replace our cracked slides under warranty. Also, I don't meant to give the impression that breake slides all the time but it would be fair to say that they get at least 100,000 rounds before cracking.
Bottomline is a Glock in 9mm is a solid buy.

I got one for my wife a few years ago. She enjoys shooting it

There’s one in Auburn I think I’m going to buy.

Honest opinion: I hate Glocks. I feel like I'm holding a block of wood. The ergonomics are all wrong. I can't shoot them for shite. However, they are super reliable and go bang. They cycle everything you feed them.
I'd test one before the purchase. Unpopular opinion I know but if it isn't comfortable and you can't hit your target, is the gun any good? IMO, no.

Not a 45, but I have a Glock 22 (40cal). Yes, quality stuff.

Better get it quick, they seem to go fast.
I have had luck searching local Academy Sports stores online. Sort by Glock and check "pick up today." You can switch to other close-by stores and repeat. Found a G19 and the G45 this way, where non of my local gun stores had seen one in months.
Also found out that they will ship it back to Glock for free if there is ever a problem with it.

Are you thinking of a 43x or a 48? The 45 comes with 3 17 rd mags, higher capacities are also available.

Yep. Had a Gen 4. That and a Sig are your top 2 but I’d probably go Glock 19 over Sig. just all around dependable gun. It’s the Toyota Tacoma of handguns.

Sorry, yes i am thinking 48.

G43x/48 are great guns. Reminds me of a slightly smaller G19.
Shield arms has mags that hold 15 flush or 20 with a +5 extension.
ETA also have a mos version for optics

Great quality forsure. Personally I like Sig's better but if I'm going boating, why not bring both. You'll like it i'm sure. Shame you won't have it long before it's lost.
