Too much industry right on the interstate they'd have to pay millions to move in Lake Charles, Westlake, and Sulphur. Conoco in Westlake alone would kill this
Stack it.
Does anyone at DOTD know how to do a stack?
Whoever decided to take the Causeway / I-10 cloverleaf and redesign it the way they did.,. That was a great plan. Ask them for help.

They haven't mastered driving on four lanes yet and you want to give them two more?

You wouldn’t need to stack. There is more than enough room to add another lane on both sides of the interstate.

I was responding to the poster who said expansion would require relocating plants.

For a lot of it but there are areas that would be a challenge and expensive like I said

I know. I was really replying to you both.
Stout: I really don’t think so. There is a decent sized grass median for much of it. There is the frontage road in front of bio lab, but even that has grass in between it and the interstate.

Genuine question: what lake Charles/Westlake town types have stacked highways?

All interstates should be 6 lanes with the big rigs only allowed to use the 2 right lanes. I75 from Atlanta to Tampa is like this...works great.

When will I-12 be 6 lanes for its entire length?
Posted on 11/27/20 at 1:28 am to Cosmo
Sweet! 5 lanes for Louisianans while all the Texans sit in the left lane. And the Texans are paying for it! Take note Texans when you build your wall
Posted on 11/27/20 at 5:12 am to Cosmo
How many left lanes will those effers have to drive in?
Posted on 11/27/20 at 6:46 am to Cosmo
They could probably add two lanes to the Lake Charles bridge using plywood and stucco without reducing the present structural integrity.

Are you sure? I know it’s 6 a majority of the way but I think there’s a stretch right before you hit Beaumont that is still 4 lanes. I get your point though. I-10 in LA should definitely be 6 from Lafayette to the basin then from the end of the basin to the Mississippi River. Widening the basin and the MSR bridge just isn’t going to happen.

Yeh La could really use the revenue from toll roads. Not sure why they won't do that.
Because there’s too much corruption they don’t trust the money. It’ll go missing and you’ll never see it. Just like casinos. Only could work if it’s contracted out to a private third party that would maintain the roads I know that’s what Texas does in some cases. Oklahoma toll roads are good for the most part and work.

The only proper way to implement this is for the lanes that don't continue into LA to abruptly stop eastbound at the Sabine with some temporary looking restraint to stop drivers from plunging into the river.
Otherwise backups will reach Beaumont from people trying to merge in the last half-mile.

Meanwhile we go to 1 lane (by design) at the base of the bridge eastbound

What about the Basin? That fricker needs to be six lanes as well. And if they actually enforced the truck restrictions maybe that would help. You’re getting your request from Laffy to the basin. Construction is ongoing.
It’s be nice if they’d simply overlay I49 from 10 to Pinhook. I know it’ll never be traffic light free, but it’s in deplorable condition at present.

quote:No idea where you heard that. They're 3 laning it from Henderson (basically the basin and end of metro area) to the interchange with I-10. There's talks of 3 laning it to Duson but that will take another decade of planning and funding.
haven't been on 10 between laffy and BR in years since I gave up on it and take 190 if I have to go that way, but wasn't there talk of three laneing both sides (Laffy side and BR side) up until the spillway? Or did that ever happen, lol I'm guessing it hasn't given context clues.
