Damn, Liuzza’s is one of my favorite old hole-in-the-walls. I’ve been getting frosted mugs of root beers and frenchalettas there since before I could see over the counter.

Someone with money to lose would have to decide to open a new restaurant in that location right now.

Same here, was bat boy for my dad's work softball team. Would go there after games when I was about 5 and sit at the bar with them. Lots of memories in that place

No, it isn't. That is the one on Bienville near Jeff Davis.

I've eaten there many time over the years and love their cold beer in the large frosted mugs.

I look forward to a nice chili's or applebee's to come in and wait out Latoya's lockdown.

Last time I ate there I did so at the bar and had 2 beers in frosted mugs and a Frenchaletta and the bill was something like $28. They are PROUD of that sandwich.

So $7.50/beer and $13 for a decent-sized poboy? That seems entirely reasonable to me. You’ll find prices like that all over the city.

Liuzza’s by the Tracks is on Lopez.

I go to Bienville and eat the spinach with garlic. Man that is good. Full length ceramic latrines with ice in the bottom. Great place.

It is an old N.O. institution when it comes to local restaurants, much like Frankie & Johnnies on Arabella, Rocky & Carlos in Da' Parish, Mandina's on Canal.

I remember back in the mid 70's meeting up with friends at Liuzza'a on Bienville and we drank unreal amounts of ice cold beer in those big frosted mugs. I tapped on on #10 and made my share of visits to the latrine while there.

In the mis-late 70's, we would start our Saturday's there at the bar, run up a tab, and return right before they closed to get a few more and close out. Went there a few Sundays ago for brunch and it was still a good meal (shrimp po-boy and a bowl of seafood gumbo).

They do have good food there and I've not had anything on their menu that I didn't like, or wouldn't eat again.

Not sure if this whole Covid crap is the cause for the sale or if they are just getting too long in the tooth to continue running the business with nobody in line who wants to take it over. It's no secret the restaurant business is one the owners are pretty much married to if they want to succeed, and a lot of the younger generation just don't want to put in that amount of time and effort.

The beers are $5 each and the sandwich was $16 plus tax. So with the tip, more like $35 for lunch sitting at the bar of a restaurant.

Yep! So whoever buys it and it stays a restaurant, prices will be through the roof. Even if they rent the building they will charge premium which will keep menu prices high.

A win win would be, sell business keep rent stable. Let new blood grow business.

I wouldn’t imagine it being a F&d favorite but Saturn Bar is up for sale as well.
