Do we think Adams is twice the player of Ibaka, Thompson, Harrell?
Adams and Bam are nothing alike. Adebayo is a young, franchise building block. Offense runs through him similar to Jokic. He has a whole other facet to his game that Adams doesn’t.

Refer to the other thread as to why these guys got paid what they did while switching teams in free agency.

Adams cost almost half that, is Bam twice the player Adams is?
I really love getting Adams, and i like the extension, but he's not Bam.
It's one thing to do things in the regular season, but the playoffs are a different animal where your weaknesses are amplified. Adams is a terrible FT shooter. He can't always stay on the court late in games.
Bam is capable of guarding 1-5 anywhere on the court, and can do it effectively. That's why he's getting paid what he's getting paid, on top of his offensive game, and his ability to get to the free throw line and knock them down. How many guys in the league can guard 1-5 effectively? Lebron, Kawhi, Simmons, Giannis, Siakam, Draymond. Anyone else? How many 5's can average a double/double with 5 apg? Jokic and who else? Sabonis actually did, but neither of them are anywhere near the defender Bam is.
Bam is a defensive player of the year candidate, with offense.

quote:I don't think they'll have issues doing this if needed. Teams will have cap space next summer, and all of their players who they may have to move would have value (Robinson, Nunn, maybe Herro).
Interesting because now they are now projected to not have max cap space next summer for Giannis. They would have to make some moves to make it work.
If he's leaving anyway, I'm sure the Bucks would take a sign and trade of Robinson, Nunn, and Herro. Their entire team would be Butler, Bam, and Giannis surrounded by minimums though

Hell yeah, love it. We get to hear Antonio Daniels yell "do your thang BI!" or something like that 45 times during a game for the next 4-5 years lol

Now let's extend Josh Hart and call it an offseason!

The Lakers were just about in that position this year, and they did OK.

Plus you get the MLE, and slowly build your top 8 dudes over the next couple of years.

That’s ridiculous.
A world exists where Adams is really good but overload. It’s ok for other players to be good too. If Adams is much better than Thompson and Harrell than what is Bam to Adams
Posted on 11/24/20 at 4:24 pm to GynoSandberg
IMO, Harrell isn't very good. He's a bench scorer that can take advantage of back up centers, but he doesn't provide the defense that you would want from a starting center.
Tristan Thompson is a midget that isn't great defensively, or offensively, but is a good rebounder.
Bam is much better than Adams because of his offensive facilitation skills, and his defense is on another level.

: The Kings are still discussing whether to match Atlanta’s four-year, $72 million offer sheet for Bogdan Bogdanovic, but are leaning strongly towards not matching. They have four hours remaining to finalize the choice.

I think it was Tim Bontemps on Windy's podcast said he didn't think they'd match because if they did they'd have to start making moves to avoid the tax starting next year.

and one of those guys said that the trade market for buddy was non existent. Sacto is in a weird spot
I’d bite the bullet and let him go and hope to god haliburton works out.
they never should have traded for and signed Barnes to that stupid stupid contract

Interesting nugget from Zach Lowe on his latest podcast with Chris Herring. Zach said that reading the tea leaves he thinks a Gordon Hayward to Indy deal didn't happen because the Celtics didn't want board favorite Myles Turner. He said they looked into his trade value if they moved him in this deal or a later deal and didn't like what he saw.
He said the league has done a 180 on Turner. Not long ago his contract was considered pretty good for someone with his skill set and now they seem to think it's not a good value. That's interesting in light of the Adams contract. I do think with the Adams contract length was more important than dollars. Signing him to a 3 year deal next offseason at the same amount isn't as desirable as the 2 year extension.

That barnes contract was definitely "WTF".
Dude was overpaid after signing 4/94mil with dallas. underwhelmed for 3 years, got traded and showed he's nothing more than a #3 guy on a good team. You then sign him to another 4 year 84mil extension.
But goddamn being a wing in this league gets you PAID.

Whether they do or don't, hopefully Atlanta realizes it needs to inject Lonzo's defense and playmaking into their starting lineup. We develop Lonzo more, they develop Reddish more, then we do a win win swap at the deadline.

I really like how the team has formed under Griffin. No really bad contracts, solid veterans, star young players, young potential, elite defenders, elite scorers, deep team.
