Teacher here in Lafayette, school started bringing more students in to move towards full capacity. In 2 days, 3 of my students have tested positive and will be out for 2 weeks. No opinions on what should happen, just thought I'd put it out there for my baws to know!

**So many downvotes so fast haha

Testing positive and going to remote learning for 14 days isn't "dropping like flies" to me.

I bet you are excited about going to full remote learning indefinitely.

Making kids miss 2 weeks of school is going to set them so far back

So positive tests, but no deaths? If so then what's the concern?

We have been in school full time since August at 100% capacity and 4 kids have gotten sick at my daughter's middle school and I think maybe a handful at my daughter's high school.

It is going up, just like the rest of the population. Get them all sick, and get it over with, then enjoy normal life again. Research Sweden's COVID story.

I have an 8th grader, there's normally 800+ kids in his Jr high 7th/8th grade.

We are trying to do school and football, it's a mess.

Two coaches have had it, one spent two weeks in the hospital.

Just returned to football after 40 students (15 players) were quarantined for two weeks.

Volleyball team quarantined

40 more students sent home yesterday to quarantine

I worry about the stress this puts on the kids, mine is going through puberty and dealing with the rona.

How many of these are false positives? How many are positive with zero symptoms. I am beyond over people just going with the 1st positive test and assuming they gave covid. The rapid tests have false positives at a 30% rate. Even the PCR tests have a false rate of 10-15%. Elon Musk took 4 tests yesterday and ran them all at the same time on the same machine and 2 were positive and 2 were not and he does not even have Covid. These tests are not reliable and you need to get 2nd and 3rd tests to verify.
