Switch back to the 3-4 with the Aranda disciple? I’d take that over the trash Pelini has brought in for damn sure.

If you want a somewhat established guy who has experience with multiple position groups (LBs and S's) and has SEC experience:
- Tommy Thigpen

If you want more to the "up and comer" side of the spectrum:
- Phil Parker

The possible names stretch far into the double digits however. Going to have to pick a base set of schemes, find somebody who can recruit, and make sure they can coach a position group and then run with them. I say experience against RPOs and Spreads is a must.

Jim Leonhard (Give him blank check unlikely he’d leave his alma mater for same position but you never know. Over his first four seasons, the Badgers ranked third in scoring defense (17.2 points per game), fourth in total yards allowed (297.9 yards per game), fifth in rushing defense (112.3 ypg) and fifth in pass efficiency defense (109.0). Wisconsin forced the second-most turnovers of any FBS team during that span, with 104, and the Badgers’ 68 interceptions also ranked No. 2 nationally.) LINK

Marcus Freeman (DC at Cincinnati has fielded Top defenses in his tenure there and again this season) LINK

Zach Arnett (At Mississippi State as DC right now came from San Diego State where his defenses were elite and ranked near the top of the country in nearly every major defensive category) LINK

David Reeves (UAB DC has fielded elite defenses the past 3 seasons and lost 9 starters one year and fielded an elite defense again the next year. Defenses have ranked near the top in all categories as well) LINK

Dude Odom has been lit up this year outside of Kentucky. Watch a damn game for once, would be the same bullshite hire as Panini.

We've already gone this route. "Hey Coach Pete, I've got a question . . . Quiet baby, I'm on an important call."

Odom

I think Bob Shoop (not Bob stoops) would be easy to get from Michigan. He’s the safeties coach right now Had some good Defenses as Penn State and Miss State.

Narduzzi at Pitt would be a good one if he ends up getting fired this year. He took a bunch of no names at MSU and turned them into one of the best defenses in cfb for years.

Go get Chizik. Dude coached some serious defenses. Also wouldn't mind scooping up a young position coach from the NFL ranks and bringing them in, similar to Brady. I think there is a wealth of untapped talent in the younger underpaid and underappreciated roles in the NFL.
