Before some of you say bullshite let's remember we have only one election for a national office - the presidency. Deadlines, mail-ins, absentees - those kinds of things need to be cleaned up and more uniform. I'm not talking about how electoral votes are determined, just the process of individual voting itself. Instead of having 50 different states deciding how their state enacts and enforces laws for an election for a national office things would be simpler and fairer, imo, if all states had to abide by the same law to elect a president. Considering all the murky water several states are currently wading through in defining what the law is or is not in their state why wouldn't we want a simpler process. After all, if we have a national court, the SC, deciding cases on what is constitutional regarding a national election then let's just skip all the bullshite and have a national law to clear up the muddy water.

One more federal "regulation" isn't going to kill us. In turn it would actually eliminate many state "regulations".

Doesn't the Constitution specifically state that presidential elections are to always be held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November? Seems like we already have a national voting law but as usual Democrats like to move the goal posts.

You already don’t understand how it works.

Those states are the entities actually participating in the election of the President. Individuals do not vote for POTUS. You vote for a particular party’s electors for your state, and the electors with the most votes are certified by your state government to cast their EV’s according to the laws of the state. That is why the state gets to set up its election however it wants.

States can have their electors vote however they want. There is nothing in the Constitution requiring a state to give their EV’s to the candidate winning the popular vote in their state.

Presidential election protocols should be uniform in order for the votes to count. Uniform and done in person.....with ID presented.

It's time to go developing nation mode.

National holiday on voting day, purple ink on your finger. I'm suspect of most everything else.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm not sure why our founding fathers allowed each state to do "their own thing" but as a result, every election year our country experiences election woes (esp. thinking of the hanging chads). Mandatory voter I.D. laws SHOULD BE MANDATORY. No mail-in ballots except for health reasons or military. No early voting and all ballots received by Nov. 3rd. No exceptions. The existing Debate Commission also needs to either be eliminated or "revamped" to present a less biased "product". We the people our entitled to a fair & balanced presentation of both candidates to freely determine which candidate deserves our vote. The media, leaning in one direction or the other, violates the sacred privilege of free choice.

Haters of true federalism have been saying that for 150 years, and they always have reasons that SOUND sensible. Look where it got us.

You would have to have a R supermajority in both the senate and house to do that.

I can get behind it. All I want is a fair, un-corruptible voting process. Plain and simple. Voting by mail should only be permissible in extreme cases and non-American citizens have zero business voting in our elections.

Unfortunately, when the Democrats get in power you will get a national voting law and you definitely will not like it!

Agreed. In order to vote you need show a real ID compliant driver's license or ID card or a federal ID (i.e. passport) and scan your fingerprints before being able to vote. I had to do all of that in order to take the USMLE exams and it took a grand total of less than 60 seconds per time.

If you are going to absentee vote, you have to should have to use a smart phone to scan your ID, take finger prints, and use facial recognition software before being able to request an absentee ballot. Then instead of mailing out ballots, you should be emailed instructions and a one time code to a website where again you have to provide a copy of your ID, fingerprints, and use facial recognition software before being able to vote. It is the 2020s now, the vast majority of our phones have facial recognition software and the ability to take our finger prints, and the # of people that cannot work a smart phone is decreasing daily either due to old people actually learning how to work their smart phones or old people dying off. So this might sound like a big deal but it really isn't.

Also absentee voting should only be for people that know they are not going to be able to vote in person in their district during the early voting period or election day.

I agree 100%! Should be standardized voting laws. Federally mandated!

1. Register
2. Show up with ID
3. Vote
4. Leave

It really is that simple. If they standardized this it would eliminate so much opportunity for division and ways to rig the system.

I agree STANDARDIZED VOTER ELECTION LAWS! Should be a department that keeps up with Election logs, gets dead people off and knows where assitance is needed.

Must show ID

In person voting or absentee only...no mail in voting

All states are congressional district electoral college no more winning take all states...states like California, Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania shouldn’t have 1 or 2 cities dictating the entire states electoral votes and/or one section of a state like Northern Virginia shouldn’t as well...

It doesn't matter what law is put in place. The dems will move the goal posts to justify whatever agenda they want at the time. Legislating laws the correct way, is too much work for them. Takes too much time to get the votes to pass, etc...they'd rather just force it up to a judge that they've bought and paid for and have that judge just rule in their favor.....way easier for them. They do this with everything unfolding before our eyes.

Couldn't the state's technically not even have an election and just cast votes based on their state delegation.

Of their state constitution allowed that obviously. Point is, it's in no way a national election and the constitution doesn't call it such.

So...essentially remove any possible checks/balances from the election, consolidate authority to one dept in DC and likely have it run by deep state swamp bureaucrats.

So basically if the dems/establishment cucks decide mail in voting is cool they don't have to get sued by 20-30 of the states anymore, they just have to issue a memo.

So if they decide anyone with a pulse can vote, regardless of citizenship, memo, boom done. No more lawsuits from the states who disagree....

Can I ask you something? Are you a moron?
