Any hidden details, stumbling blocks or anything I need to know beforehand besides what the state says on their website?

Are you mailing or going to Quinn? I went to Quinn and it wasn't bad, just make sure you have everything and be prepared to wait in a line. However, I was about 6th in line and was out of there in about 20-25 minutes.

It caused my son to have no interest in the outdoors ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

My daughter asked me to take her duck hunting yesterday. So I should wait a bit before I get the Lifetime for her?

Got one for both my girls. Oldest is about to turn 4 so still have plenty time, but at $200 each it was an easy investment.
I went the mail in route and had no issues but that was a year ago before this Covid BS. I would recommend going to the office. It will be done same day.
For reference, my boat registration paperwork was submitted July 6th and I just got my decals in the mail. They are backed up in their licensing dept.

Unless they're about to hit an age that puts them into a higher price age bracket (5 or 14) then no rush. See if she likes it before you spend the money.

I'm in the same boat. Mine hunt now, but they don't need a license until they are 16, so you don't see a return until then. It's a gamble.

I have 4 kids and so far I have Lifetime H/F combo for 3 of them. The youngest just turned 4 so I will buy his in the next few months.
I think this is an easy investment for your children if YOU enjoy the outdoors. If you are out there, they will probably be exposed to hunting and/or fishing at some point in their lives.
FYI: If your kids move out of state later in life, their Lifetime license is still good in the state of Louisiana even if they become a nonresident.

Super easy did ours by mail and did mine with my sons. They tell you exactly what you need and mail it off. Licenses come in not long after. Wish I wouldn't have been putting it off for years like I did, but happy I have it now.

That's an awesome gift. I wish someone had bought me one 30 years ago.

All 4 of my kids have combos. Did it all through the mail with no problems.
I bought my oldest (11 and 13) 2 theirs a few years back.
they both have hunters safety course so they can deer hunt without me being close to them.
Nanny and Parrain bought my 2 year old twins theirs before they were 1 year old as a Christmas gift.

Super simple. I would go to LDWF if you can. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Get there bright and early when they open.
You can also submit through e-mail, but I believe they are currently processing 8-10 weeks behind.

Do you have to mail the original birth certificates when doing it by mail?

I believe you Do and they keep it.I seem to remember going buy extra copies at vital records to send in for my kids.
All three of mine were given lifetime licenses for their 1st birthday. Great investment

I did this Friday. Drove to Quinn b.c. I heard they are not even responding to mail applications.
If under 18, bring original birth certificate and copy of both parents drivers licenses.
They even take credit card.

Like other people have said. Just make sure you have all the required information. I bought my son one years ago. It is definitely well worth it. Make sure you have his hunters ed information also. I went in person to the office on Quail Dr in BR when I bought his

I mailed in a certified copy from clerk of courts office and they accepted it

Did it through the mail earlier this summer with no problems other than it took a while for them to cash the check. I would definitely recommend it because, as someone else mentioned, they get to keep the license if they move out of state. It will quickly pay for itself.
