Lots of missed assignments on offense and defense.O lin missed many stunts which caused pressure on Brennan.
WR's misread several coverages which would have possibly resulted in big gains. Notice that 2nd/3rd team WRs were playing at times, sometimes en masse.
Brennan held the ball too long and missed a few progressions & definitely looked like a very inexperienced QB. They think he will be better starting next week.
Missing Stingley and Logan caused some changes in scheme that obviously didn't work very well. When you think they will play all week and then lose them Friday that makes it very difficult to scheme. Played Evans when he was supposed to still be learning basic coverages since he just transferred in. Flott & Ward were playing all game when they were supposed to be subbing in and out & made lots of mistakes, as did Ricks. Todd Harris could have shoved K Hill out of bounds and prevented long TD. Bottom line- lots of mistakes that are correctable that would have changed the outcome is the feeling from Ops.

This is interesting. There were definitely a couple plays where it was clear they didn't know what they were doing.

Nobody needed word from the film room to know about all of those mistakes

In other words, what any semi-knowledgeable football fan could see. (Other than them being “correctable“...that remains to be seen)

Screw the film room. When you lose your best corner and have to change scheme you should probably move to something a little more conservative not play press coverage with CBs that can’t do it.
Then after getting torched for 300 yards in a half you should probably think of changing something up at half time and try something different. Maybe play a little Zone or not blitz the same gap the whole game. Average sec corners will struggle covering crossing routes and we put 3 kids that have basically never played a meaningful snap in a sec game man to man the whole game.
I would love to have heard what Leach really said after the game. Probably thinking Pellini is worse than he remembered and laughing that we never changed anything up.

It was pretty much the perfect storm setting up the upset. All the pieces that State needed to fall into place did fall into place. And that MLeach offense was the absolute worst trap door we could have walked through given the situation and personnel losses.

#1 rushing defense in the country. Improvements need to be made on pass defense

It’s crazy how many different WRs we used. Last year we basically ran with the big 3 unless someone was hurt or really needed a breather

There was a lot of game without Marshall or McMath.

Way too much.

You think Bama, Clemson or Ohio State would say this. Even with all the attrition? NO. They demand excellence from everyone. Players, coaches and staff. They were unprepared, out coached and out of shape. Failures all across the board.

9 guys caught passes last night. It's impossible to ever get in a rhythm when you're doing that. Nice to have so many quality options, but eventually they need to lock in on 3-5 consistent targets.

I haven't heard about Raydarious Jones. What the hell was Evans doing on the field when we have Jones that O pressed hard on signing day?

You mean college-level offensive and defensive schemes are more technical than the average fan realizes?

I don't think many of the fans criticizing Brennan and Pelini completely understand the big picture.

The QB isn't the only one with reads to make, and receivers making bad reads make a QB look bad. A QB that refuses to throw his receivers under the bus will also look bad in the post game presser.

There are always far more than 1 or 2 possible explanations.

^^^^^^This

I said the same thing in 2018. We did the same shite, trotting out 6-7 guys a game and Burrow and the offense never got in a rhythm. One would think the coaching staff would KNOW this very basic stuff. Brady sure did.
