Met a Football player from Tomball HS tonight and he had an interesting story about Demond Demas and A&M's recruitment of him. If you remember, Demas was a 2020, 5 Star Reciever, that committed early to A&M.

The guy I met tonight, through a friend, had on an LSU hat. So I started talking to him about Football and where he might be interested in going. He said he'd like to get a scholarship to A&M like his friend Demond. I asked him if he'd be interested in playing at LSU, but he said there's no way he'd be good enough to play there. So I laughed and asked him why he thought he could play at A&M. That's when he told me that his coach has a deal set up with Jimbo and it might get him a scholarship.

He said Jimbo wanted Demond so badly, that he made a deal with his coach to steer Demond to A&M. Part of that deal is to allow Tomball HS to play some Home Games at Kyle Field over the next few years and keep all the proceeds. He also said Demond told him he and his coach both got cash if Demond went to A&M, but wouldn't say how much.

I just found it interesting that A&M could pay the High School right out in the open in the way they're doing it. I know "everyone does it", so that's not the point. Just learning how it goes on, is. The game in question this year is on October 16th against Tomball Memorial.

Players get paid and FBS coaches will make deals with high school coaches if it helps steer players to their respective programs. Happens all over.

You should have had the recorder on your phone turned on. I had an Aggie tell me recently that they are going to catch LSU and bama in recruiting now that they are paying players. I don’t know if it’s funnier that he believes that or that he believes A&M hasn’t been paying players until now.

Why, so they can fire Jimbo with cause and get out from under that ridiculous contract? He’s going to flatline that program from within like he did FSU. Let him be.

I think Jimbo will flop too, but the melt from their fanbase would be glorious if he got fired. Despite being average at best in 2 years, they think this man walks on water. I’ve read Texags a few times and it’s pretty hilarious how stupid/desperate they are to win something of relevance.

I doubt the part about them playing at Kyle field are true.

I wouldn't be surprised about anything else being true though.

Back in the days of the old SWC, the aggies were second to only SMU in quantity & quality of cheating. A close second. While safe to assume, a lot of those good ol boys have moved on, no doubt the family money is still there to go along with the attitude re rules are for breaking. LOTS of oil money under them there hills.

That's the easiest part to verify. He told me the team and date they are playing there. I looked at the Tomball Cougars schedule and it doesn't say that they are playing there. All it says is "Home Game", but he was certain it was going to happen and very excited about it. So I'll be curious to see if it happens.

What’s great is it still won’t help them win the SEC West.

I have been to the boo William's eybl tournament in Hampton VA several times over the years.

You would be shocked what you can learn from just chatting up people running aau or hs teams in that environment.

I spoke to a Huntington (WV) prep assistant one year, and he told me TJ Warren was paid 950k to return to NC ST for his last year. I asked if any of these top guys went to any school without getting paid, and he got a great laugh out of that question. He told me duke, unc, kansas, LSU, all teams signing elite recruits paid for, or arranged payment for ALL the top guys and/or their families.

DO NOT tell irish this. I don't want to burst his fantasy bubble about how just Wade and a couple other rogue schools are paying players, and most schools play by the rules.

One last anecdote. When ching chong's lover was our hc, we were hot and heavy after an elite pg named Malik Newman. I asked a 150 lb overweight eybl coach in a sweatsuit, if LSU was going to sign Newman. He said take it to the bank, he's going to Mississippi st. They weren't in his announced top 5 at that point, and I told my son that dude was crazy and full of prune juice. 5 minutes later, I saw that same coach bear hugging Calipari. Newman ended up in Starkville.

Players that could declare that come back to school get paid big bucks to return at every P5 school. I know personally a certain MLB that received $150K to come back.

The ENTIRE purpose of AAU basketball is to serve as a gray market for top talent. The head of the various "grass roots organizations" aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. It is a for profit enterprise. The bulk is from the shoe companies who organize the teams/leagues/events, but EVERY top player is for sale. A HC doesn't even get in the door unless he is willing to arrange some degree of "benefits" for the player and/or his family/handlers.
