Do you think Ben Shapiro has political aspirations?

I still regularly listen to his pod (even though he drives me crazy at times) because he’s genuinely a brilliant guy who agrees with us on 85% of the issues.

The move from Los Angeles to Nashville is interesting in that Ben could now conceivably run for statewide office and have a very good shot at winning.

He’s very ethical so I’d assume this would mean he’d have to divest of his holding if he decided to do that - but since he helped build TDW from the ground up he’d stand to make (tens of?) millions while doing so.

ETA - I actually like Michael Knowles as much as I like Ben - he could handle being the flagship show and face in a couple years.

That dude talks so fast that he is hard to listen to for an extended period of time. He is very intelligent though.

I think Ben is too smart to run for any type of office. This is just a guess, but I would bet he's content to continue making a ton of money via TDW. I don't know that he cares enough to actually get involved and try to change stuff. He's just very good at evaluating and talking about things.

He is WAY too fundamentally unlikeable to win an election. Now Klavan, that is a likable guy with moral clarity. You need to listen to Klavan. After Rush, he’s the most talented guy out there.

I like Shapiro too, even though he also drives me crazy sometimes. He's smart as shite.

I think he defintely has political aspriations. He's also a lawyer - so he's got the background. Even tho he talks fast, he is a good communicator.

My concern about Shapiro is that while he ultimately comes to the right conclusion, he does occasionally get swept up in the moment on certain Democrat freakouts, and then he has to backtrack when the leftist hysteria is proven wrong. For example, I seem to recall that he was originally on the wrong side of the Covington Kids thing. And well, there was his whole - I can't vote for Trump thing.

For those reasons, I'd see him as a better legislator than executive. He's not good at "in the moment" decision making. He's better once he's had a chance to marinate on an issue.

This is an interesting point and maybe that is part of the reason he's moving. I guess we will have to see. I think he enjoys his gig too much to let it go anytime soon. He also just had a kid so I doubt he has any plans as long as his kids are young.

I agree with the OP. I listen to Shapiro nearly every day, and while I disagree with him about 10% of the time, even in those instances, I admire the way in which he clearly explains his reasons. I have a ton of respect for someone that can articulate his/her points of the argument. I dont expect to agree with everyone on everything, but his contribution to the current narrative is monumental. He also has a significant following in the young adults today, which is what we need desperately. Yes, he talks fast, but I dont get the hate he gets on this board from some others on the right.

Overall, he's a way better ally than an enemy.

He tweeted asking where he should live in Nashville.

In which Shapiro said Los Angeles, but that’s just their schtick with each other.

Probably not. He’s 4’8” and has a voice that will peel paint. Smart but not a person that exudes confidence.

He made no indicator on his stream last night.

He did say that he would be posting new content to the "Michael Knowles Show" account of YouTube and not the daily wire channel. The same is happening for all of the daily wire crew because they're trying to avoid getting censored by YouTube. As is they can shutdown all of their shows for what happens on one show. With separate accounts that cant happen.

I don't think he'd do well in politics. He's just not very likable.

No. He has said that he did at one point, but after meeting politicians and realizing how vile most of them are, not to mention the press going after you and your family, he said he’d never run for office unless he was basically forced to.

No. He’s not a politician. He’s a thinker.

He was tweeting this morning about recommendations on where to live in Nashville, so he’s not leaving the Daily Wire. Just California.

He's a thinker, not a doer.

I need someone who is 60/40 Doer/thinker minimum in the whitehouse.

Ben is 15/85 doer/thinker.

What I'm trying to say is he ain't the coach, he's the analyst

It's all about what your brain becomes acclimated to.
If you were a national class HS debater you would say that Shapiro talks slow.
I have no problem understanding him. I have a big problem with slow talkers. I feel like making a sammich between the subject and the direct object.
