Scoot (WWL) said NBA ratings down 38%

I haven't listened to him in years, but I'm back in Louisiana briefly and tuned in. He's mostly still a lib who claims to be a moderate.
I'm driving to Nashville so hard to confirm... have y'all heard the 38% figure before? I'd seen low-20s.
Scoot 'mostly' dismissed the obvious reason for the low ratings, our refusal to watch low IQ players preach to us a false narrative about cops and blacks. He parroted the 3-4 lame excuses most sports reporters keep touting.

What is this NBA thing you are talking about?

Whatever the numbers are they will surely lie about it

I don’t know why they refuse to see the truth.

Obviously ratings are low because everyone is stuck at home.

We will know when we start seeing their contracts dropping 38%. That’s when they’ll learn.

Only people watching get their political advise from a high school graduate with a sweet jump shot.

Should be lower.
Probably are. What is the criteria for being counted as watching a game? The fact that I might have clicked on a channel for 3 seconds while looking for something else to watch?

Even if he did acknowledge that as the reason, he'd dismiss it as the viewing public being racists who don't understand.

Arrogance. Ego. Smugness.
I imagine this is a theme in history.

I heard an NBA guy from The Athletic say the numbers are being "massaged" to include streaming and everything else. They are doing everything in their power to make their loyalists feel like the product has not suffered. So good luck getting actual numbers. He also mentioned that any time any NBAWoke critic brings up how they won't watch the games anymore, an army of "sure you won't" trolls starts in with the ridicule, driving even more people away. But there is no real effort by the league to persuade viewers other than loyalists to stay.

We may to tune in so their 27 illegitimate children don't wind up on the government dole

ABC slam-dunked over all other networks on Sunday night with the NBA playoff matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. The game dominated the adults 18-49 demographic, delivering a 1.3 rating while 3.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Lakers defeat the Rockets 117-109 to tie the second-round series at 1-1.

quote:TV viewership is determined by people who place a Nielson box on their TV to monitor what they watch. You have to sign up with the Nielson company. I've seen it mentioned in one story that there are only 5,000 households involved and another story said 25,000 households. From the info gathered there, they extrapolate to the country. Makes me wonder if its as accurate as political polling.

I could care less, but it isn't worth my time

What they really need is someone to cry on set to really capture the public’s attention.

I can honestly say the last time I sat down and watched an NBA game was when I was at boot camp and our DI let us watch Jordan and the bulls play.
I can't understand why people are so excited about that game. I hope it crumbles to the ground
I hope Nike crumbles to the ground
I hope ESPN crumbles to the ground.
And then I hope all those NBA contracts have to be re done and they all go to making $200,000 - $300,0000 a year! and wonder Why has everyone left?

There are so many things weird about this year that it's easy to find excuses.
It makes comparisons, to prior years, really complex.
We really need to have a non-bubble, basketball in the right season, to make a good comparison.
When you do that, I think you will find the ratings are down, and there will be no more excuses.
