1.3 rating while 3.8 million viewer

Is that a good number to have, it only seems like 1% of the US population?

The Iron Bowl last year got 11.43 million.

Ole Miss vs. Alabama had 3.59 million and we sucked.

Some 2019 ratings (which were down from 2018)

quote:

Golden State’s win delivered the largest audience of the playoffs, topping the previous highs set by Game 1 of the series a week earlier (3.0, 4.83M).

Earlier Sunday, Celtics-Pacers Game 4 had a 2.4 and 3.84 million on ABC — down a tick in ratings but up 4% in viewership from last year (Celtics-Bucks: 2.5, 3.70M), and down 17% and 14% respectively from 2017 (Cavaliers-Pacers: 2.9, 4.48M).

Of the six playoff games to post an increase in ratings and/or viewership, four have aired on ABC (the other two aired on NBA TV). The rest of the weekend was a bust.

Blazers-Thunder Game 4 scored a 2.3 and 3.74 million on TNT Sunday night — playoff-highs on cable, but down 38% in ratings and viewership from last year (Cavaliers-Pacers: 3.7, 6.07M) and down a tick and 5% respectively from 2017 (Clippers-Jazz: 2.4, 3.96M).

Raptors-Magic had a 1.6 (-20%) and 2.69 million (-15%) earlier in the night.

On Saturday, ESPN drew a 1.95 and 3.19 million for Rockets-Jazz Game 3 — down 8% in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (Thunder-Jazz: 2.1, 3.39M) and down 26% and 27% respectively from 2017 (Warriors-Blazers: 2.6, 4.38M).

Bucks-Pistons Game 3 preceded with a 1.5 (-12%) and 2.48 million (-12%).

In the afternoon, Nuggets-Spurs Game 4 scored a 1.8 (-8%) and 2.78 million (-7%) and Sixers-Nets a 1.4 (-13%) and 2.13 million (-12%) on TNT.

The rough times continued into the workweek. On TNT Monday night, Rockets-Jazz Game 4 scored 2.96 million viewers (-24%) and Bucks-Pistons Game 4 2.81 million (-20%

This will turn around like anything else. I don't know y'all thinking this is going to effect basketball or any other sport in the long term

Yes. There’s never been ebbs and flows of popularity in a sport affected by the player’s behavior or other market factors. You are very smart.

ABC slam-dunked over all other networks on Sunday night with the NBA playoff matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. The game dominated the adults 18-49 demographic, delivering a 1.3 rating while 3.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Lakers defeat the Rockets 117-109 to tie the second-round series at 1-1.

That wasn't a slam dunk. A rerun of America's Funniest Videos got almost 1 million more total viewers (and 60 Minutes got 2 million+ more total viewers). It seems the Lakers and/or Rockets are the only teams that can get any decent ratings.

Scoot may have gotten the numbers confused. Ratings from the 1st round were down 27% from last season (still really bad, obviously). And ratings are down 40% from two seasons ago. This is all according to Sports Illustrated. It was the Harris Poll that was taken recently that showed that 38% of respondents claimed to have not watched the NBA due to them getting too political (the biggest percentage in the poll as to reasons why people were not watching).
